I Phone battery debacle

I brought my I Phone in for a simple battery change.  While battery drain was excessive, my phone worked perfectly otherwise.  After 90 minutes, they told me there were problems with my screen. After another hour, they claim my motherboard is bad, and it is $300 to fix. After returning my phone so that I could take it to Apple to get their opinion, the Geek Squad manager left me a voice mail accusing me of stealing their loaner phone, and threatening to blacklist(?) my phone #. Worst customer service experience ever!

Re: I Phone battery debacle

Hello cletus714,

Thank you for joining us on the Best Buy forum, though I’m sorry we have to meet under these circumstances. I can imagine hearing that your phone may have additional problems would be extremely frustrating, so I understand wanting to get a second opinion.  I’m sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this diagnostic may have caused.

In terms of a Geek Squad manager contacting you regarding a loaner phone, I would be happy to take a further look into that.  For me to do that, can you please send me your phone number and let me know what store you went into for service?  Please send that information to me in a private message by clicking on the blue “private message” button in my signature.  I look forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you,

Re: I Phone battery debacle

You understand I want to get a second opinion? The only reason my phone has "additional problems"  is that your techs broke my phone, I'm just waiting for that verification from Apple because your employees won't admit it.  This is like going in for an oil change, and having the mechanic tell you"oops, your motor broke". I have been researching this, and no one has referenced having their mother board spontaneously break due to a battery replacement.  Why don't we address that issue? My phone worked fine, your tech ran a diagnostic on it and said it worked fine, then he replaced the battery and it didn't work anymore.  Sounds pretty simple to me!

Hello celtus714,

Thank you for the clarification that you feel the Geek Squad Agent damaged your phone. You mentioned that the Agent denied breaking anything, but have you spoken to the manager at the store regarding your concern? I would be happy to take a look into this, but I will still need additional information from you.  Can you please send me a private message with your phone number, the order number for your service, and the store that you went into for service?

Regards,

I Phone Service-Never at Best Buy again

Just wanted to make sure everyone on this board new.  The Orland Park Best Buy broke my I-Phone 6s+(seems to be a theme on this board) while changing the battery.  After 5 days of not being able to fix it, they claimed the mother board coincidentally "went bad" on it's own when I brought it in for a battery replacement.  The CSR's on this page backed the local store, "sorry it happened", "that must be frustrating", yada yada yada. Bottom line, too bad, cough up $300 or live without your phone.

Took the phone into Apple. Explained what happened. The Apple guy said "sounds like they broke your phone to me". He looked up Best Buy's service interaction with Apple, said yes, they broke your phone .  2 and 1/2 years old, out of warranty, sorry they did this to you, here's a new phone. No charge, no hassle, thanks for your business!

Apple always, Best Buy never!
