Geek Squad fixed my laptop when I told them not to fix it and now they’re asking for $800

We brought a DELL G15 laptop in February this year and the screen broke this month (July). We brought it in to Best Buy on July 12th to get it repaired. They shipped it out and we were told the estimate would be $800 (just for a screen repair), we then found out someone near us could do it for around $600 less (buying the screen and just replacing it) so we did not want it to be repaired by the Geek Squad.

Because of this, we called the Geek Squad 2-3 times in the past days telling them not go through with the repairment and to bring it back to the store. Both times, the people on the phone confirmed that the repairment of the laptop will NOT go through.

Today, we were told that our laptop was fixed and at the store to pickup, we also received a email about it asking us to schedule an appoitment to pick up our device. We then called the Geek Squad twice today hearing different stories. The first time we called, we were told that we had to pay the $800 dollars to get it back when we said mutliple times not to repair it. We then asked who confirmed to continue with the repairment of the laptop and we got told a lady "Sanchez" (I don't know if that's an agent but we don't know anyone name Sanchez). The second time we called, the person behind the phone said that he couldn't find that out and to ask the manager at the Best Buy Store.

In summary, we told them multiple times not to repair the laptop screen because we knew somebody who could fix it for way cheaper. We were told at least 3 times on the phone by the people at Geek Squad that it will NOT be repaired. Instead they followed through with the repairment (said multiple times not to) and are asking for $800 to receive the computer back.
I also don't know how it's $800 in the first place just to replace a laptop screen. (that's 200$ less then the actual laptop). I saw people on this forum saying that they're laptop screen got repaired just for $200-400.

I'm always a firm belieiver that you get what you pay for. However, I advise caution on these lower cost repair shops. You could end up with more repair work totalling over $800 than if you took it to a store direct. I don't usually trust local firms I've always trusted places like Best Buy.

Have to go with the customer on this one. $800 for a g15 screen is kinda crazy, the lcd cost is between 100-150$ for a 15" 144 laptop lcd. $100 labor is pretty average also.
