Received an offer in the mail to renew our daughter's laptop protection plan expiring 7/9. The offer: 1 year at $109.99 or 3 years at $263.99. I sat down today to spend $263.99 to renew for 3 years. Followed the "quick & easy- act now" directions but couldn't figure out how/where to enter the access code. Not so quick-and-easy after all so I went to Live Chat.
Stunned to be told that online renewals had been stopped as the plans had been changed. The only "changes" as it turned out was the elimination of the 3 year plan and a DOUBLING of the 1 year plan cost. So now 3 years of protection could cost me $600+. No sense in that given the price of a laptop.
Mostly I'm disgusted that it's O.K. to renege on an offer. This totally felt like a bait & switch operation. And at one point I wasn't comfortable that I was really dealing with Geek Squad and wouldn't have been comfortable giving out my credit card info across an unsecured chat line anyway. Next laptop won't be coming from Best Buy.

Welcome to Best Buy’s online community. Thank you for choosing to renew you Geek Squad Protection with us. I have many computers of my own that have benefited from both the protection and the renewal.
It is my understanding that you should be able to log into the Geek Squad Portal to enter the code that you might have received. Then your qualifying product will be presented with available offers.
I can understand the confusion you must have had when the Chat Representative might have quoted you a different price for the renewal you are interested in. I am sorry that this seems misleading to you. I would encourage you to try the portal one more and if you are still having a concern with the prices available, I will be happy to see how I can assist.
