Geek Squad Privacy violation

Went in with my laptop. They sent it to Toronto for a "deep diagnostic". I've now been locked out of my social media accounts and receiving emails of failed login attempts from my laptop IP address in Toronto. Now I'm worried of what other things they may be doing on my computer instead of the actual task they were supposed to, which was simply to figure out what the problem was. Highly expect a refund and my laptop to be returned immediately.

Re: Geek Squad Privacy violation

Since the computer was sent to Toronto, does that mean that your situation originated in a Canadian Best Buy location?  If so, you will want to reach out via, the team here only has access to US retail locations.

I am a Best Buy Employee, but the views that I post are my own and not that of Best Buy.

Re: Geek Squad Privacy violation

Hi there, V4,

Thanks for connecting with us on our forums! Sorry to hear you're experiencing these laptop issues. I can totally understand why those emails would be worrying. Regardless of circumstance, I would heavily recommend changing your account passwords if you believe someone may have accessed your accounts.

jdogg836 had a great point. Our team primarily works with our USA stores and customers. If this was a Best Buy Canada purchase, I would recommend reaching out to our Best Buy Canada partners via the Contact Us options listed on our site, as they will be best able to assist you with your questions/concerns. If this was a Best Buy USA purchase, please feel free to send us a Private Message with more information!
