Food spoilage claim

Hi Best Buy team,

We bought a new refrigerator for which delivery was not done properly. Had a very poor experience, which left us with all th espoiled food. Called geek squad almost immediately and  asked them to help, geek squad ensured us to not worry about "spoiled food" as we are "good hands" and they will take care of it all. They pointed me to food spolage process and gave me appoitment to fix the installation in next few days.

Its been months and my food spoilage claim keeps getting rejected because "Food spoilage applies to repairs and not to delivery and installation".  I dont think its appropriate of best buy, i did not even want to go thru all this, i just wanted someone to come and just fix the refridgerator so it will work. I am not into accounting to all the mess and garbage disposal i had to take care due to so much of rotton food and meat.

Best buy team on phone ensured me that they will take care of it. The money I have lost due to all this, it would just have been easier to hire someone from outside to fix it.

Best Buy mislead me, made me false promises and now just harrasing me by sending from one department to another department, making me wait for hours on phone and with "no willingness to help".

I am reaching out to best buy support group in hope that they will help me !

Re: Food spoilage claim

Welcome to our community, PrashantP,

Thank you for reaching out to us. A new fridge would be a great way to store some baked sweets, and I can understand your concerns if the first attempt at a delivery and installation may not have aligned with your expectations. It’s not the kind of experience that we want to deliver, and I’m glad that you’ve reached out to us for assistance.

Our Geek Squad Protection (GSP) plans offer a food spoilage benefit if the unit malfunctions and needs repairs. I would be happy to learn more about what happened, and to take a deeper look into the situation and see if your food spoilage claim would be covered under the Terms and Conditions of the Geek Squad Protection plan. To get started, can you please send me a private message with your full name, email address, and phone number? You can send me a private message by logging into the forum and clicking on the blue button across from my signature on this post.

More info on our GSP plans can be found here.

Hi Scott-BBY,

Pleaes find information you requested below

Name: Prashant {removed per forum guidelines}

Email: {removed per forum guidelines}

Phone number : {removed per forum guidelines}

It was a faulty installation given by BestBuy. I asked best buy for help when delivery guy was still in premise. They said I am protected by GeekSquad protection and they will take care of food claim. They promised me over and over again when i was requesting them for immediate appoitment, and gave me an appoitment few days later.

And now - they have changed their stand. I have lost a lot of money. If best buy geek squad team hadnt mislead me and made false promises- i cud have hired someone from outside and would not have lost so much money and food.

I always purchased geek squad protection with every thing i bought, but never used it until now. One time i wanted to use it (because best buy said they will take care of stuff as it was BestBuy's fault ) they are harrasing me, its been a long time now when I am wasting my time and energy.

Thanks,

Prashant

Re: Food spoilage claim

Just wanted to say that I feel for your situation.  Having spent most of last week bouncing between BB Geek Squad, BB's insurer (AIG), and LG directly, there is ONE thing I have learned...  Geek Squad team members are inconsistently informed, barely helpful in the case of a fridge issue, and many times, flat out wrong.  :-/   One told me that my GS protection would only cover 50% of labor/parts for a repair -- what??  When I questioned him, he pointed me to the protection policy, which clearly said that a no cooling event would be entirely covered.  But he still didn't understand. Ugh. (Maybe they are better with TVs and computers??)

Anyway, not the same issue you're having, but goes to show that there is a serious training issue with the GS appliance team.   I would have preferred to wait to talk to a knowledgable/helpful person than to just get the first warm body who picked up.

FWIW, I believe Best Buy should stand by the information you received.  Why would you have spent all that time filling out a spoilage form (time consuming!!!  doing it now) unless someone had TOLD you to do so?  Hope you are getting the resolution you need.  Hang in there.

Re: Food spoilage claim

Thank you KurtzFam for understanding what I might have gone thru. I am not getting the resolution I deserve. But at least here in Best buy Support they are well informed and are sympathetic to situation.

On phone GS rep will not talk to you nice, and if they sense that they dont have an answer to your question - you will be on hold forever and magically after listening to that horrible music for hours ..your call will be dropped. You will end up more frustated then before.

I say communicate in this forum instead, at least you will know you need to give up.

GS needs education for sure ... so that they dont mislead people..that too with so much of fake confidence.
