Failure to support warranty

Purchased an open box refrigerator orig. price $2500 for $900 new with a warranty from Best Buy 2 years ago. The ice maker started leaking so we called the warranty department. They sent someone out who said it was not repairable and someone would contact us. I received an email stating they would replace my refrigerator. Turns out the warranty will only replace my refrigerator with one for $900 which isn’t comparable to what I have. Who can I contact about this. Why have a warranty that won’t cover anything. What is the requirements for a warranty.

The warranty will only give you credit for up to the amount you paid. In this case $900

While it is unfortunate that your refrigerator wasn't able to be repaired and needed to be replaced, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, and as nckhammond has mentioned, at our discretion we have the option of (b.) reimbursing you for replacement with a store credit or gift card equal to the Covered Product’s current market value, as determined by us, not to exceed the original purchase price of your Covered Product including taxes.
