Delay in Repairs!!

I bought my laptop from Best Buy in December super excited. Then less than a month something goes wrong. I dropped off my laptop at Geek Squad on Jan. 21st 2021 I was told it would take 2-3 weeks repair as they were sending it to the service center...... it’s now March and I don’t have my laptop back. It’s been over a month. And when I call for an update I’m told by Customer Service that they have the part they need for my laptop they just don’t know why they haven’t fixed it yet. Are you kidding me!?! I’m then advised to continue to keep calling each week so my phone calls are logged and the Service Center can see how often I’ve called. WOW. Had I known their was going to be SUCH a HUGE delay on my laptop I would have gone elsewhere to get it fixed!!

Re: Delay in Repairs!!

2-3 weeks is the time window usually quoted when not in the middle of a pandemic, unfortunately with parts shortages and the number of units awaiting repair these times are extended.   Taking it elsewhere would likely not result in much of a time difference, we have a number of customers who participate on these forums who have confirmed it is an industry wide issue right now.  Hope this helps clear up the current consumer electronics repair situation.

Re: Delay in Repairs!!

Hello, Nccastill8,

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums!

Between distance learning, working from home, and just trying to keep yourself entertained during this pandemic, a laptop is absolutely a necessity to have.  I can understand your concern in wanting to get yours back from repair as quickly as possible.

As our friend jdogg836 mentioned, the 2–3-week time frame is an estimate given when everything is normal with repairs.  With that being said, the pandemic is causing limited availability to parts, as well as a lot more repairs for items that everyone needs to function day to day, that they may not have needed before.  Long story short, it does mean that normal repair times are rarely able to be met.

While I can’t guarantee any particular outcome, I can certainly look into your service order to see if I can provide any insight into your repair.  To do so, please send me a private message with your full name, email address, phone number, and your service order number.  You can send me a private message by logging into the forum and clicking on the blue button across from my signature on this post.
