Three months ago, I had a Geek Squad technician defraud me and steal $500. I have made numerous attempts and phone calls to try and get my money back. I have gotten nowhere and I have not been allowed to speak to anyone about the fraud. I keep getting passed around to technicians even though I am being told that I am going to be connected to the fraud department. There is supposedly a case report, but I can't get a copy of it because I am being told that there is no email capability to do so. So, the most recognized computer experts don't have email.
In my situation, I called Geek Squad because of a problem with my computer, more specifically Windows 10. After speaking with the first representative, I was passed on to a second representative. This rep told me that I needed an upgrde to Windows 11 and it would cost me $299 for a 2 year plan which I found out from my report within 2 days, that Geek Squad never does this. So, I was charged $300 to a company called Newegg and I was charged for 2-$100 Nordstrom gift cards. I never order any of this and never received it. I cancelled my credit card as soon as I realized what had happened. This person who did this has called me representing Geek Squad on 3 occasions since trying to get me to let him in to my computer. Obviously, I have learned my lesson and told him to stick it where the sun don't shine.
I you read this and you have had a similar situation, please try to contact me. You may not have a chance to do so as my first message about this has been deleted.

I'm sorry to hear of your circumstances. In regards to the removed posting, it may have been removed due to a violation of the terms and conditions you agreed to when registering for a forum account.
The behavior you described does not represent Geek Squad protocol. They are held to high standards for helping customers with technology problems and also with installation and repairs etc. There has been scams floating about online recently where crooks have posed as Geek Squad agents.
A more comprehensive list of these scams and how to protect yourself can be found here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/privacy-policy/protect-yourself/pcmcat266100050002.c?id=pcmcat266100050...
If this indeed happened and they were official reps, Best Buy would have a log of it in their system as customer trust is a priority and they would have a log on how customers information are accessed and so forth.

I have been a Geek Squad member since 2014 and I am going in to Best Buy and cancel my membership. I called the 800-433-5778 number that I have always called and got scammed. I expect them to be responsible for reimbursing me. What gets me is they won't give me the case report so I can use it to get part of the money back from my credit card company.

I had $500 taken from me by the Geek Squad. After numerous attempts, I can't get anyone from Best Buy or Geek Squad to do anything about it. Unless you can help me, don't respond. Apologies are no longer accepted. I want to be made whole.

More of the same. That info provided about scams simply tells me how to avoid them and how to report them to law enforcement. They will not get my money back and should not have to spend their time getting it back because an individual proporting to be a Geek Squad member at the Geek Squad phone number you list to call for problem stole my money.
