Per Apple's suggestion, I took my iPhone XS to Geek Squad to have its battery replaced. After waiting 3 hours, the Geek Squad tech claimed that the battery could not be repaired because the screws were stripped. As this iPhone has never been serviced or even opened in the past, I think it's safe to say that the Geek Squad tech damaged my iPhone and lied to avoid getting in trouble.
Since the screws are damaged, even Apple will not touch the phone. They did mention that I should NEVER take my iPhone to Geek Squad since their training is subpar. I wish I had known that sooner.
