Thanks for joining us at the Best Buy Community forums. Having a computer crash on you is always a frustrating experience, especially when important data is lost. I apologize that you’ve had such a poor experience with your new computer.
We would not be able to refund you for any lost data or cryptocurrency that occurred due to a computer failure. Please see our site Terms and Conditions which calls out that we would not be responsible for any incidental damages that occur while using a product sold by us. I would suggest you reach out to the body that governs the currency you use to see if they are able to assist at all.
Regarding the charge to work on your computer, a manufacturer will cover only hardware issues on a computer under one year old. Any software work or data recovery would not be covered without an additional protection plan. We would, however, be able to exchange a defective computer within fifteen days of purchase for a replacement under our Return & Exchange Promise.
I hope that the folks at your local store were able to recover the data needed to get your cryptocurrency working again. If not, please send me a private message, using the link in my signature below this post, containing the service order number from when you checked your computer in, as well as the customer service PINs from the bottom of your purchase receipt for the laptop and the service.
