Best Buy won’t refund 4K I am due

I bought a refrigerator from Best Buy two years ago for $4700. It broke last month. Best Buy declared it defective and said they would refund me to my original form of payment, which was my Visa. I said great, because I was going to use the money to buy a new fridge (and I did).

That was a month ago. I never got the refund. 

I have been trying to figure out what happened, and after literally 10 hours on the phone yesterday, being constantly transferred and given the run around, finally a customer service rep admitted to me that they can see in their records that someone agreed to credit my Visa, but that that was an error. Apparently the rep who did that, Brandy {removed per forum guidelines}, screwed up, because Best buy never refunds money in the original form of payment. They only give a store voucher.

 

That's a problem since I bought a new fridge believing that Best Buy would refund me my money. And its also a problem since Best Buy now claims they issued a voucher, but they have no record of a voucher. In other words, they have lost my almost 5,000 dollars. And they have no intention of fixing this issue - no one I have spoken to has any idea of how to solve it, nor any incination to solve it. They seem to think I am just out of luck - and a ton of money.

Did you have Geek Squad or other product protection on your appliance?
