Best Buy is not honoring the extended warranty

I bought a refrigerator at Best Buy back in October 2017, I also purchased the extended warranty for 5 years. The refrigerator was delivered November, it was defective, they delivered again, the replacement was also defective. Finally I received the refrigerator December 1st. I called today because the refrigerator broke, this is November 22nd and I am being told the warranty is expired because I bought it in October. So Best Buy is saying that I had a warranty for a product that I didn't have. The warranty should start the day I received the product not before. I have tried to escalate with no luck, this is simply unethical business practices.
