Hello, last November I bought a Western Digital external hard drive from your store as I have had great experiences with both your store and brand so far. Worth prices for your Thanksgiving sales! However this past week, all of the sudden I cannot access that hard drive anymore. On the MyPC folder the hard drive is not recognized like others, yet in the bottom left part of my screen it is shown in the USB icon but it is under this weird name of easystore 264D. All of my important data is there!
I was really looking forward to your data recovery services but they mention the following. That either I need to buy on my own a new hard drive and give it to you to place all of my recovered data, or buy it from you for what I believe is normal and expensive price.
The external hard drive is that of 14 tb, buying one new right now would be too expensive, and I am sure I would have to pay for levels 3 to 4 in data recovery and I am not drowning in money like that cartoon duck. I am sure that in three months gas prices will not be the same as they are today.
I really want to trust your companies as I never had such a problem until now. As the hard drive is still under warranty, can't I just pay for the recovery service and get my data back in a new hard drive of the same capacity and model please? Thank you for reading this.

The hard drive would be under warranty from Western Digital, however I don't think they'll advance you a drive in which to move the data over to. Using Geek Squad's data recovery would require one of the two options you mentioned in order to proceed, while drives can be pricey that tends to be the least expensive portion of data recovery...especially with the drive size mentioned. I believe that in the case of Western Digital, they will replace the failing hardware but data recovery is not part of their warranty process at all.

Thank you for the replies. I have decided to go with the services of Ontrack. And actually considering buying data storage from both companies. I do miss Toshiba hard drives and Japanese tech.
