i have an item in my wish list that is currently backordered 4 to 7 weeks. it would be great to see a "notify me" when the item is in stock and ready for purchase, maybe even a notification sent your phone from the best buy application saying that, "this item is available for purchase!"
i don't know if anyone else has brought up this idea or not, but would be great to see this feature implemented on the website as well as on the smart phone application(s) across iPhone and Android.
hope other customers agree and make this happen! especially around the holiday season.
I think it would be good if Best Buy online would have a signup for products that are listed as Sold Out Online when they come back. When I am looking to buy one of these particular products I keep a book mark to it. But the drawback is if I don't check everyday it might only be back for a little while.
Now, I see the Wish List feature. Will the Wish List perform this?
I should note that BB had a message alert set up for when the Samsung Galaxy S4 became available for pre-order. So I would think the technology exists already on the web site, it is a matter of activating it for Sold Out Online items.
Also, as a marketing tool it would give Best Buy an idea of the demand for a particular item and give their buyers data to base their buying on.
They might not keep a lot of say the Canon T5i (this is the item that prompted this idea) on hand. For items like this it is more likely it will only be in the distribution warehouse. They only re-order when quantities get down to zero.
With this kind of tool they would know that there are say 131 people that want to be notified. So instead of making orders of 20 they could try orders of 30. It could then lead to all 30 being sold in a matter of days. The most money is made on a products that spend as little time sitting on the shelf as possible.
It would great to see a notification system when an item becomes available for purchase once its no longer sold out. Whether it be through text msg or email. I noticed that some of items I would like off the site are sold out such as Dragon's Crown for PS VITA. Any chance such notification system can be implemented??
I do not know if this has ever been brought up, but what I would see if bestbuy.com had a email/text notification when items are stocked or restocked. I know that you currently do this to announce some items available for preorder, but just waiting with no idea when items are going to be restocked or stocked for the first time can be a hassle.
This idea has been brought up in the past, but there wasn't enough interest for it to be moved forward. I personally really like the idea, and would love to hear from others on this. Make sure to vote for an idea if you like it.
I personally love the idea of finding out when an item is back in stock also. While Best Buy doesn't currently do this with the website at this moment, there are ways to get this done however.
Last year we partnered with IFTTT (If This Then That) to have a Best Buy channel, that has a few cool features to alert you with the most popular products on Best Buy, when a product price changes, when a new product is added to a category, and when the availability of a product changes online. The alerts can be sent to you a number of ways, including notifications to your phone, emailed, via text, and more.
You can search various "recipes" that have been created using the above link, or create your own to meet your exact needs. I know it's not quite the same as us alerting you automatically (which I hope may be an option in the future), but it's one way to get those alerts now. I've personally used it a few times and it's worked great.
Was about to submit this idea myself: I'd absolutely love this idea. It's just a no brainer, especially since other retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Newegg, and tons of others already have it.
