I'm a member of several different gaming/deal communities and on each there were reports by the members of using copies and scans of the March @Gamer coupons. Not to mention some users on SlickDeals reported having the cashiers allow them to use only the SKU's from the coupons without having to present or surrender the physical coupons(which some of them didn't have in the first place).
I'm sure such fraudulent use of the coupons and SKU's from them will only lead to the deals being lessened or eliminated due to such abuse if it were to continue. This is why my suggestion is to print the coupons on the same type of reflective security paper that I believe was used for the Gamer's Club Unlocked unlocking coupon that was mailed to people who signed up in store early on in the program. By using such paper for the coupons it should eliminate the scanning and copying of the coupons that was reported repeatedly on sites such as SlickDeals as any attempt to scan or copy the coupons should produce copies that say VOID across them due to the reflective paper.
However, the cashiers working at each Best Buy store would also have to be instructed to not only take the coupons with each single purchase(as some apparently are not), but also what to look for in regards to an official coupon and how to spot a fake. Moreover, some cashiers have been apparently entering in the SKU's from the coupons without the customers actually having the physical coupons on hand. This was because four of the coupons from this month(Batman: Arkham City, Bulletstorm, Mass Effect 2 and Rage) were all scanned into a site called the KeyRing App, thus further facilitating the fraudulent use of the coupons.
Anyway, this is my proposed solution to stop the loss of magazine and Gamer's Club Unlocked subscription sales by making the coupons unique and easily recognizable as legit versus their scanned/copied counterparts. Hopefully by implementing this idea Best Buy can cut down on the fraudulent use of these coupons and keep these amazing gaming deals coming for months(years) to come.
With the increase to $60 a year normally($120 for 2 with NO discount, really?), Best Buy should be focused on trying to attract new customers to pony up the cash for a subscription. But when regular consumers can pay only $15 for a year at Gamestop and still get their physical magazine, 10% off on pre-owned and a 10% bump on trade-ins it seems like less and less of a good value to grab the GCU sub at Best Buy.
Sure. You have the 20% off new games and you do have the welcome packets(when/IF they get sent out on time), but even those have been nerfed. Gone is the B2G1 coupon on NEW games that would stack with Black Friday pricing, replaced by......nothing. Even the 20% discount wasn't working initially on Black Friday with sale prices, which was disappointing and infuriating, since we paid for that discount in the revamped program.
Now with @Gamer going away with this month's issue, we're reliant on the bi weekly or so coupons that EVERY Gamer's Club member gets and within the last couple of weeks those have been reduced down from three coupons to two the last couple of cycles.
So what's left? We do get the 10% on game trade-ins still. But that's only IF we constantly remind the employees we're GCU and to click the little button to check it off to give us the bonus. Not to mention the fact that the trade values as of late make Gamestop's look generous by comparison and the lack of trade promotions besides the requisite 50/100% ones and the infrequency of them make wanting to trade at BB just not worth it anymore.
As I said at the beginning of this, you want to add features to attract new customers and retain current ones, not take them away while jacking up the price to 4x what a program cost prior.
Hopefully you guys can find a way to bring back @Gamer and the sometimes awesome coupons(not the last couple of months sadly) as I feel that GCU needs all the help it can get to attract new customers.
Since it now cost an additional $1,000 to reach elite plus over premier silver the rewards/perks/benefits should also be increasing. Previous premier silver promos maxed at 3X like at the shopping events and coupons so now they should reach 5x like this past weekends 5x promo.
This would be a true game changer & a catalyst promo for big ticket sales
1- Having this promo in place when the SuperBowl is coming for tv sales
2- When new tablets/phones release
3- When the Steam Machine/Retron5 consoles release
4- Kicking off the 2014 holiday shopping season
5- When new tech tv`s hit the shelves
6- Kicking off the 2014 holiday shopping season
7- In conjunction with E3, CES & other electronic shows/events
8- And since you won`t price match on Black Friday offer elite plus members the bonus during the early access event
Call it the "Best Buy your way in" deal of the week and put it in the weekly ads. Keep a healthly mix of offers covering all platforms(Including the greatly overlooked PC)
1- Buy any 3, 4 or 5 games featured in that weeks ad get 25%, 35% or 50% off a GCU sub
2- Buy any console, 1 accessory & 2 games get either 50% off or a free GCU sub
3- Buy any console, 1 game & warranty get either 50% off or a free GCU sub
4- Spend $150 on gaming get 50% off a GCU sub
5- Spend $200 on gaming get a free GCU sub
6- Purchase a Sony TV or tablet + a PS3, PS4 or PS Vita get 1 yr free PS+ & a free GCU sub
7- Purchase a MS tablet + X360 or XB1 get a free 1 yr XBL sub & a free GCU sub
Maybe some deals only warrant 1 yr free vs 2 yrs.
I've been at Best Buy for about 2.5 months and, as it being holiday season, I'm thinking of my employee discount. To receive our employee discount, we can either buy in-store or by calling a phone number to make our order. I think it would be awesome if we could do the orders online by having an employee link or something where we can log in (via employee login information) and make purchases. Has this been talked or thought about before? Is there any chance of this happening?
Detailed breakdowns of the benefits are definitely needed since there remains to be a large number of customers who are losing out on what they paid for a on a consistant basis. At any given time you`ll see 3-5 post regarding the loss of 2X pts, no 10% bonus or 10% discount on used and/or no 20% discount on new games. Even worse the customers who`re fully aware of the benefits they should be receiving are being denied by managers giving the wrong info altogether like "it`s one or the other" or "the 20% doesn`t apply to new games on sale".
Being able to provide the card would go a long way toward eliminating some of these issues(along with more staff training) plus it`s a consistant wallet reminder why to shop at BB.
Pretty simple: default shipping for Silver Reward Zone members should default to priority shopping; not standard. Of course I want the product sooner and it's frustrating when someone assumes you'll get it sooner because it's a perk.
As simple as the title says. Add more games to the $10 promo. Also, GCU members should get more than regular members. Either give GCU members $15 and non GCU members $10 or keep the amount for GCU at $10 and reduce the non GCU to $5. GCU seriosuly needs more value to be a viable service. Since the mag was discontinued, the only benefit is 20% off games, which if u buy most games at release, you get screwed when the price inevitably goes down within 45 days because you can't get 20% off of the price match so you would have literally been better off buying at full price as non GCU member and then price matched the lower price. You would have saved $100 on GCU, still gotten the price match and $10 reward certificate for preordering, gotten more rewards points since the original price would have been higher and gotten more towards your overall limit of keeping your Elite status. Having GCU actually costs me money in the long run. Please people, vote for this idea. We need this to change!!! I'm close to going to Amazon for all my games and movies which is the only things I buy at Best Buy anymore since they have made so many negative changes in the past couple years.
I don't like how we have to retype our gift card number plus pin each time we want to use our gift cards for online purchases. Can you guys make a feature that will allow us to add our gift card balance like my best buy certificates automatically to our online purchases at checkout?
A $10-$20 istant giftcard offer like what was provided for Dark Souls 2 or $10 pre-order credit would be enough to put BB back in play along with GCU.
Best Buy really needs to be more competetive here. Think about it; "Get the best new games... a day or two after you would get it from any other retailer!"
How does that sound from a marketing stand point? Currently this is what Best Buy is doing. These games are typically in your warehouses at least a week before release and yet even for Elite Plus members you aren't shipping till late Monday afternoon for Tuesday releases (I recently posted in the gaming forum about issues of Best Buy not even shipping expedited for Elite Plus members who have chosed it as well).
Even if this was only an additional "perk" to being a Gamer's Club Unlocked member (paid membership), this is something that Best Buy should be looking into to significantly improve their standing compared to other retailers.
$3500 is a lot to spend throughout the calendar for the average consumer in one store. I've seen topics that gave the idea of an annual membership fee for certain tiered memberships. It would be a great idea to see dollars spent carry over to the next year if you happen to max out the $3500 this year. I know that this year in particular I will max out the $3500 for Elite Plus and the money that is spent during Christmas time will not count toward dollars spent for next year. This would be a great benefit to entice customers to keep spending and a piece of mind knowing their dollars aren't going to waste toward tiered memberships. I hope other customers and My Best Buy members agree!
Hey guys, I have this idea that there should be a "Pre-Order Overview" Page on BestBuy.com and My.Bestbuy.com. It is similar to the Points overview but instead it keeps track of all your online and in-store pre-orders of games and products. I currently have 14 games pre-order. A few I pre-ordered last year after E3 and these games are set to release sometime in 2015.
I think there are some games I have pre-ordered but can't remember which. I now have to go search my Points Overview and figure out what games I have ordered and which have not released yet. By having an area dedicated to pre-orders I could view and keep track of games and products that I have already recieved and games that I have ordered and their release dates when they are announced. Having the release date is a must becaues so many games are getting delayed it would be useful to know if a pre-order has moved.
Organize it from whichever game is about to release to the games which are furthest away or have no date announced yet. This would be the 2nd most useful tool to me besides my points overview. Even making it a Gamers Club or Gamers Club Unlocked tool would work. Just make it already!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!
BestBuy @Gamer/GCU coupons have provided some of the THE BEST GAME DEALS EVER....EVER!!! And that`s insanely remarkable considering their short lifespan & being limted to just one retailer. These gave BestBuy the edge by far & now in few short months you`re giving them up, giving up an edge when you need it the most. $120 for 2 yrs of GCU is high plain & simple but the 20% off is AMAZING plain & simple too.
I know this was a business decision based mainly on money no doubt but my fear along with alot of others is that you`ll lean solely on the 20% off going forward which is a mistake that will cost you in the long run. $47.99 on day 1 is AMAZING but I along with many other consumers have found it better to wait for the best deal since they come so fast due to competition. And with consumers being more willing to wait you`re going to have quite a hard time selling them on paying $120 upfront to save the same amount they could achieve by just waiting a few weeks/months.
Bottom line, BestBuy you NEED the @Gamer/GCU coupons in one form or another & giving up on them will hurt you & GCU. You`ve failed to perfect your gaming coupons as a whole by not being diverse & including enough 3DS/PSV/PC games. The total #`s of coupons offered per month was also lacking & now it`s all going away. For $120 GCU should be fully loaded with perks/promos/benefits not a program that BB has put all their eggs in 1 basket.o
You HAVE TO achieve some balance or in 12-18 months you`ll be changing GCU AGAIN & that`s what NOBODY wants.
Some of this surely isn't BB's fault but it still makes the company look bad when it can't be trusted to provide the promised pre-order incentive to customers. My suggestion would be for BB to secure as many exclsuinve steelbox packaging promos as possible & have the DLC codes sealed in them.
Because this method can be abused for codes that wouldn't equal sales it needs to be clearly printed on the steelbox packaging & the receipt that if the $5 pre-order can not be refunded if the steelbox is opened & the game itself will not be fully refunded if the sealed steelbox isn't also returned.
Also, you should try to score more impressive DLC like characters and/or levels not just costumes/weapons packs. They have more "value" & will have a much greater impact on increasing your total pre-orders.
So we all know how many hoops you have to jump trough to get RZ certificates, and as an employee I can't even count how many times I've been asked if I can look up their points mid transaction. This leads me to the idea that since we can look up their rewardzone account info to get them the points, then why can't we also instantly use their 'points as well instead of having to print out paper copies or having to scan their phone. I feel as though it would be to more use as the consumer and also streamline the process at the register. If there's a prompt for using the Bestbuy credit card, so why not the RZ points as well just a thought from both a consumer an an employee alike
I love the direction that the gamers club is headed & have been supporting it from day 1 but there's a severe blind spot that BB has towards PC gamers. The @gamer coupons need to be edited to include PC titles along with the console versions too. And there should be more total coupons/deals focused on PC gamers. BB is to be THE place to buy games so service ALL types of gamers & enjoy the sales across the board.
