Pre-orders are currently a pain, and there are several things that could be done to make them better.
1. Set a pricing policy for pre-orders. Something like "you'll pay the lowest price from when you place the pre-order to when it ships". Then make the changes on BestBuy.com's back end to make the policy work reliably.
2. Under an account's Orders page, add an 'Open Orders' or 'Pre-orders' filter, so we can easily find and manage all our open pre-orders.
3. Adjust the Price Match policy. Currently, we can only PM when placing an order. For a pre-order, this means we're expected to cancel the existing order and place a new order with the PM in place. Make it easier for orders that haven't shipped yet to be PMed.
I would like the ability to pre-order items that are "coming soon" (example: the Kobo Glo) and be notified whe the item is ready to be shipped / picked up at a store so that I can move on with my life and not have to check back at bestbuy.com every day to see if it's out yet.
Pretty simple: default shipping for Silver Reward Zone members should default to priority shopping; not standard. Of course I want the product sooner and it's frustrating when someone assumes you'll get it sooner because it's a perk.
I love these monthly B2G1 Preowned Video Games promotion that Bestbuy is giving us. The only downside to this sale online is a large portion of the games listed are sold out and say "Not available for shipping."
I often find myself wasting time scrolling through thousands of video games, half of which are out of stock, just to find 3 games that I want which are in stock. I think an easy solution to this would be to add an option on the "narrow your results" pane on the left side, allowing us to omit items that are "Not available for shipping"
If you lower the time it takes to find 3 games, then I may be able to use that spare time to find 3 more games.
Just a thought...
I use BestBuy.com to build quotes for clients and it's really annoying that you have to sign-in or create a guest account to be able to get a complete total with tax. As a Best Buy employee, I would use BestBuy.com to calculate totals with tax for customers as well so I can see where this could be hindering employees in-store too (this was faster than running to a register and doing it and allowed me to stay with the customer too).
On the Best Buy College Discount page email subscriptions are restricted to only students that have email addresses that end in .edu (and by that I will also infer that education discounts are only available to .edu students.)
In 2012, ICANN, the internet naming authority, approved over 250 new top level domains (TLDs.) TLDs, therefore, are no longer limited to the old standards of .com, .net, .edu. For example, my school now issues its students email addresses ending with .Institute, one of the new TLDs. .Academy is another obvious TLD.
I would like to propose that Best Buy eliminate the .edu requirement to bring their educational discount policy up to current internet naming standards.
Media (video games/movies) is being shipped from BestBuy.com in plastic bags that offer zero protection during the shipping process. The chances of items arriving to the customer in rough shape are pretty high. At least, many of my orders arrive with beat up slipcovers and creased artwork.
I understand that these plastic bags probably exist as a means for cutting shipping costs. The number of people complaining about smashed slipcovers or creased artwork is probably miniscule (many people probably just throw away slipcovers). While I would love for everything to be shipped in cardboard mailers or boxes, I would at least like the option to upgrade the packaging to ensure the item is protected during transit and arrives looking like it would if I were to pick it up at the store. I know that's a slippery slope since you almost have to admit to poor packaging to offer an upgrade to decent packaging.
The competition isn't doing much better in the packaging department for me (Amazon varies by fulfullment center and the fulfillment center that I'm stuck with is terrible). If any retailer starts to show some care for how the item arrives to the customer, I'll end up being loyal to that retailer.
I have tried ordering multiple items together in the hopes that it would force them to be shipped in a box since they would not fit in the envelopes together. Unfortunately, the order was split up so that each item was shipped individually in it's own plastic envelope.
It would be great if there were an option to filter the view of products that were in stock at the local store(s) selected by the customer. That way, we wouldn't have to wade through pages and pages of product links in order to find out if you have in stock the product(s) we want at our local store.
Sometimes, (and by sometimes I mean most times) I would like to get a product that same day by just looking online at your website and finding what's available at my local store. Otherwise, what is the advantage of buying from you as opposed to one of the many other online retailers and to add to the mix, I wouldn't have to pay sales tax if I bought from an online retailer from out-of-state. If I have to have Best Buy ship the product I desire anyway, why not buy it somewhere else and save a little money.
Is it possible that Best Buy in the near future will allow you to pre-order Xbox One games via Xbox Live digital codes? Newegg already does this feature. You are pre-ordering the game and when it comes out, you are emailed a code for $60 to redeem on the Xbox Store to purchase the game. I'd love to see this option at Best Buy. Being able to have the $10 promotion for certain games, any pre-order bonus (extra content, etc) and being able to buy a digital version instead of a physical copy.
Now I understand that I could walk into Best Buy, buy a $60 Xbox Live credit, go home, redeem the code and then buy the game, but I am missing out on any pre-order incentives.
PLEASE take this feature into consideration Best Buy! If you guys offered this feature, I would not see a reason for me to shop anywhere else to pre-order a game. You already do a great job with the $10 pre-order incentive. It would just be nice to be able to pre-order a digital copy of an Xbox One title and still get all the pre-order bonuses.
Currently, if the price on a pre-order drops between the time a customer places an order and the time it ships, the customer automatically pays the lowest price. This policy should be adjusted so that the automatic adjustment period extends to the release day of the item.
To ensure the item reaches the customer on release day, it typically ships late during the week before release. The sale price isn't always updated on the website until the release week, after the order has shipped. This can cause customers who pre-ordered to not get the best price unless they call in and ask for a manual adjustment, which is covered.
A customer who pre-orders an item should be guaranteed to get the same price as a customer who walks into a store on release day and buys the same item.
I would love to be able to keep track of my preorders via MyBestBuy. I currently have a lot of preorders for this fall. Tons of good games plus figures for Disney Infinity and Skylanders. It would be great to see a list of these items, the remaining cost, release date all organized on an order page where I can get a good visual for how much damage I am causing to my wallet. Thanks.
Would be great to see this item on the long list of pre-order requests. this would be great for fans of the series and to receive the desk calendar as well. please add this to the website as soon as possible! i will cancel my pre-order from another vendor to go with best buy.
I absolutely love the "Upgrade & Save" program where you can trade in a DVD for $5 off of a bluray. Absolutely love it! However, it would be even better if there was a way to apply the $5 to online orders as well. This should be fairly easily achieved by having the computer generate a code one could then use when placing an order online.
If I were able to use the $5 upgrade certificates online, there are a LOT more blurays I would buy that Best Buy doesn't carry in stores.
Thanks for reading!
I want to buy a laptop, and I found the exact one I want on the Best Buy website.
However, right now, it says "Coming Soon" and I can't order it yet.
1. I would like to know HOW SOON this item is going to be coming out (is it days, weeks, months?)
2. I would like to be able to enter my email and get a notification when the item is actually available for purchase on the website.
Also, as a side note, I think it's ridiculous I had to sign up for another login/password to be able to post this message, when I already have a Best Buy login. The two aren't connected at all.
I went to pre-order the Borderlands: Handsome Jack Collectors edition and was sold out. can notifications be sent out in the future for customers that subscribe to a specific game or product? i think this may reduce the amount of unhappy customers who weren't able to pre-order that particular product. is there any chance as well to boost availability to elite plus members or an early pre-order event?? hope other elite plus members chime in on this idea!
Why not allow those rewardszone members to join Gamers Club Unlocked, by using their points? For example, the cost per year is $20, but if I have 1000 points banked, why is it a problem to use that $20 reward certificate (or more) towards GamersClub Unlocked? Nothing too big in my opinion, just one of those little "tweaks" that save the customer a little bit of cash sometimes (it takes most people a while to get up to 1000 points or more normally), and gives us another "perk" to spending more money at BestBuy. I would like to be a Gamersclub Unlocked member, but can't justify spending the money for it, BUT, it seems I have enough points banked that I could join if BBY would accept a BB reward certificate for it....
When searching products, it has been VERY handy to have the ability to check stock near me.
However, it only shows up after you start filtering results.
For example, I selected Product, TV and Theater, DVD and Blu-Ray. I click Blu-ray Players on the left menu. Then I got the list of 54 Blu-Ray players available, and choices to Narrow Your Results, but Check Stock Near Me was not one of the filter choices.
I selected Wi-Fi built-in, and THEN it showed the filter for Check Stock Near Me.
But I wanted to see ALL Blu-Ray players in stock near me.

As an avid photographer and self-proclaimed camera junky I was disappointed to find out that your store doesn't carry any LensBands. I recently purchased a Canon 18-200mm zoom lens from one of your stores in NYC. If you've ever used one of these you know that the main issue with most zoom lenses is that they have a tendancy to slide out on their own; causing the lenses to either disrupt your focus. Not to mention that it's just plain annoying!!! That's exactly what's happening with mine!!
Best Buy is usually really good at carrying the necessary accessories. This is one of them! Lens Bands are the perfect solution and it helps that they are relatively inexpensive. I called a few times to find out if Best Buy carried it at any of their stores. When I wasn't sure, I decided to just head on over. This is what I found out.
Down Side: Best Buy doesn't carry Lens Bands
Up Side: The sales associate there was so helpful. He wanted me to be happy so he referred me to another local photography store in NYC ( __ & __ Photo Video in Midtown) . Needless to say, they had it in stock! So cheers to Best Buy for displaying true customer service. Most places would have just told me that they didn't have it and then moved on. It's the extra steps that SOME employees take that really make it a great place to shop. So, BEST BUY... get some LENS BANDS and you'll be perfect! At least in my book... lol. Then I can have a one stop shopping experience and buy my lenses and accessories in one shot.
Everyone who has an android device also has a google wallet account. This now comprises 70% of the cell phone market and more than half of the tablet market. Most of these users also shop. By allowing payment via google wallet, it means that anyone who has an accout ( the accounts are free and you don't really need an android device to have one, anyone can have one) does not have to enter their personal information again on yet another web site and remember yet another password. I have used this on other sites and it is extremely easy. With google wallet you are in control of what card gets used and it is secure.
