New Idea

Gamestop allows customers to use their version of rz pts to purchase coupons. The major flaw in their coupons is that the cost to redeem them is far too high. It makes no sense to have to spend $500 to earn enough points to purchase a 50% off coupon which will rarely if ever save you anywhere close to half of the $500 you already spent.

Since there`s far more items to purchase at BestBuy this is a huge advantage not just over GS but all of your competition. For all new items have a coupon that offers 2x-3x rz pts if the item is purchased w/i the 1st 30 days of availability. Work with companies like Sony, Apple etc to craft unique coupons for specific items in which they cover a portion of the discount/promo.

There should be "staple" offers like $5 off - $500 off, 10% - 75% off, B2G1, B2G2 on various items, 25% - 50% off accessories, $10 - $100 extra credit on trade ins, 10% - 50% bonus on trade ins, free/discounted warranties etc. Also, there needs to be a way to "buy" RZ pts. You don`t wanna lose a sale b/c a person is 300 rz points short of a $50 off coupon since it wouldn`t make sense for them to spend $300 to save the $50.

The coupons need to work online and they must stack with the reg. promos/offers. Again, they MUST STACK with reg. promos/offers otherwise it`ll feel like paying for the same promos that are free not a huge reward for consistant spending at BB.

Interesting idea. Would anyone else like to see this as an option? Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

I review nearly every purchase I make on BestBuy.com.  From time to time I check random reviews I've written and other buyers have become "verified".  Although this hasn't been explained to me, I feel myself and other buyers should become "verified".  Changing the "reviews" tab on every item page, should make buyers put in the customer service pin and select the items they'd like to review based on their recent purchase.  This should make the buyer from BestBuy.com a "verified" purchase rather than have "trolls" post useless reviews on the site.  I believe this change or correction should avoid any negative feedback from the vast customer community of Best Buy and evade internet trolls at the same time.  Hope this idea is considered by many!

Coffee shop in store

Lease out a small space inside the store, maybe only big box stores or maybe all, and call the coffe shop Best Joe. With our customer base a lot of people would probably enjoy the ease of access to decent coffee, especially during long consultations, complex sales, or Geek Squad service times. At my store we have a Panara Bread and a Starbucks withing a 2 minuet walk of the front door and customer constantly come in and out with their products.

Thanks for all the input on this idea.

You could do it as a once a month e-mail sent out to GCU members. They could be some of the usual ones from the former @Gamer magazine(that ended in May 2014 Smiley Frustrated ) as yet another perk of being a GCU member. You could have the usual ones that became(unfortunately) a staple of the magazine's coupons towards the end like the extra percentage off pre-owned coupon.

As it stands the Gamer's Club offers that the company is releasing as of late are nowhere near on par with the offers we used to get.

Right now the ONLY Gamer's Club offer on the page I have bookmarked for it is 50% off a headset audio controller for the PS4:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/save-on-the-ps4-headset-amp-139518

Not only that but when these Gamer's Club offers pop up if they're for games and are a flat $X off said game(s) then the coupon and the current 20% discount perk don't stack correctly.

So how about it? Bring back the @Gamer styled coupons to stack with the 20% game discount? It might actually spur me to buy something gaming wise from Best Buy for the first time in 2015.

Who else would like to see GCU members receive coupons similar to what was offered in @Gamer magazine?

Remember to vote for an idea if you like it!

I have recently Pre-ordered a wide variety of games for my Xbox One (over $1000 MSRP worth) at Bestbuy and currently have them all under the same payment type (my bestbuy card).

I think my bestbuy card will be expiring soon now that Bestbuy is switching to Visa cards, meaning my pament type will soon be invalid. There is currently no option to change the payment type for my Pre-orders, and some of them are sold out with no chance of coming back in stock (Black ops 3 Juggernog Edition). So I am really hoping that these orders don't get canceled due to there being no option to change the payment type, Please consider adding this option as it would really come in handy, another great option would be adding the option for a 2nd payment type.

If there is already some way of doing this please let me know.

Thank You!

So to be clear;  you have open pre-orders that you placed with a Best Buy Mastercard, and you believe your pre-orders will be cancelled when your card changes to a Visa branded card?

For a service that`s main critical feedback is the $120 upfront price you guys are far too laxed when it comes to the "little things". Cost for these shouldn`t really be that big of a factor since it`s a two year service so not like it happens that often.

I think this is a good idea. Would anyone else like to see us put this idea into place? Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

I read in your ads that you say you can upgrade to "X" amount of ram and a bigger hard drive for a little more money. That is fine. But it seems more of an upsell then to customize a computer.

But some customers who may walk into your store may be intimidated by prices and or specs. At least group your desktops into sections, one for Gaming, One for Basics , One section for business use , etc.

And Insignia , by entering into the PC monitor market, lets hope you can expand this to entry level desktops and deliver even more value on the solid brand you already have in the store.

Thanks for all the input on this idea.

I think it's kinda crappy that you put an auto-issue on the Reward Certificates. We should be able to save them and use them at OUR discretion since WE are the ones purchasing items. Let us choose when to use them.

Status: Tell Us More

Elite and Elite Plus members should have the ability to receive their certificates only when they request them, but other members do not have this ability. Who else would like to see this change? Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

Can someone please post a sample video or video screenshot that can be used to asist customers who are still have trouble getting the PAID Gamer`s Club Unlocked(GCU) 10% bonus perk added in-store correctly. It is a tricky process even for the reps who know what they`re doing & for those who are unaware they just say nonsense like "it`ll show up at the end", "it doesn`t apply during promos like 50%/100%" or "I don`t know what happened".

Either a very simple sample before non GCU trade in screen & after GCU is correctly added screenshot. Or even better how about having Hubert Joly take in a stack of 5-6 of last years high profile games & allow him to attempt a trade in at a store far away from BB HQ that doesn`t know he`s coming. Bring the secret cam crew & enjoy the show.

I`m sure he has a paid GCU membership right? I mean where else would BB`s CEO buy games from even if not for himself certainly he has friends/family with children and/or children himself and the must have some interest in games.

This issue has been going of for YEARS and yet almost every week there`s no shortage of people posting losing out on their 10%. This issue rarely if ever happens at GS in fact their reps actively promote the benefits including getting out the calculator to show the savings. How can you possibly compete if your reps aren`t willing/able to meet the standard of knowledge of the program(which is $120 vs $15). For $120 it is completely UNEXCEPTABLE for this issue to have lasted tbis long AND when a customer who knows the perks & request a manager but even the management staff is being reported as failing too.

Screenshots and/or video that combined with better trained/informed staff is seriously needed. Even when you had game reps this happened to frequently. Failure plain and simple failure.

Please Ship in Shipping Box

Status: Tell Us More
by on ‎12-07-2014 11:49 AM

I ordered a few items from bestbuy online with free shipping and they came in the manufacturers box, complete with pictures and holes from shipping. The product had some damage from not being shipped in a real shipping package and I will have to return the item. Additionally, it ruined the surprise given that the one who the package was for collected it at delivery.

I dont have this issue with either Target or Amazon. Everything I've ordered from both of those come in a shipping box, even if it's unnecessary.

Status: Tell Us More

I will admit to being fairly ignorant when it comes to what our packaging standards are, but I can't imagine we always ship with the manufacturer's packaging. My guess is that if an item is inside manufacturer's packaging, and that packaging is strong enough to handle shipping, we don't put a box around a box. I certainly understand the surprise thing, and will admit that is concerning. Would anyone else like us to always package over the manufacturer's packaging? Make sure you vote for an idea if you like it.

There should be more bonus points for new BluRay releases, like how Best Buy did for Zero Dark Thirty. Don't you think that could promote sales? Maybe instead of giving customers 100 points, you can boost it to 250 points for new releases?

Best Buy should stay out of political issues such as the MN Marriage Amendment. Focus on selling computers, and other household items; period.   Besides, there is too much money in politics already and you are making it worse.

Status: Acknowledged

It has been made clear that Best Buy wishes to expand the Geek Squad name to be more globally recognized and to utilize the brand for increased profits.

I believe Best Buy/Geek Squad is missing out on an opportunity to get into the competitive gaming scene. Riot Games, the creators of League of Legends is pioneering the world of competitive gaming and legitimizing it as a real sport. The United States government already recognizes it as a legitimate sport, providing travel visas for professional players.

Best Buy/Geek Squad should invest in sponsoring a professional team and/or creating an official Geek Sqaud team to put the face of Geek Squad in the competitive gaming scene. Not only would this give an incredible boost for advertisement and marketing but Geek Squad would have the potential to developer their own brand of PC Gaming gear to be sold.

In case you aren't aware of what League of Legends is, you can visit their official site at http://leagueoflegends.com/ and you can visit the League of Legends professional gaming site at http://lolesports.com.

Just to give you an idea of how big the competitive scene is for gaming, League of Legends sold out the Staples Center in California for the World Championships with a prize pool of over 1 million dollars. With thousands viewing the event live and hundreds of thousands viewing it via online streaming at lolesports.com.

If any company higherup wishes to discuss this further in a serious matter, I encourage you to email me back.

Thanks for your time.

Reward Zone Platnium

Best Buy Reward Zone Platnium

Imagine you were a customer and you received an email from Best Buy or saw an advertisement of this at Best Buy. When you pay the limit of $5,000 ($2,500 more than premier silver) you received the following: 20% more trade in value on cell phones, laptops, printers, etc. You get 10% any accessories as long as the accessory is not on sale. You will get a 2 month return policy instead of 45 days. Its called "BEST BUY REWARD ZONE PLATINUM" ...This idea will also be a card but its electronic that way the customer wont need to print off their reward zone certificates, it will already be on the card. When a cashier ask for their reward zone card, the customer gives them the RZ PLATINUM card and once they hit total, the cashier will see a prompt for 10% on the accessories. Since the RZ PLATINUM is electronic, whatever points they have to spend they can swipe the RZ PLATINUM card and the customer will select what points they want to use. The same selection like if they want 18 months 0% interest but it would say $25, $5, etc. Whatever points they have. "BEST BUY REWARD ZONE PLATINUM"
Status: Acknowledged
As of 9/16/2013 we have changed our rewards program from Reward Zone to My Best Buy. In this change we have added a new tier called Elite level member. I would say this new tier would be considered somewhere between Premiere Silver and Base membership in Reward Zone terms. I can say that we will be adding benefits to the new tiers as time goes by. Thanks for all the thoughts on this idea.

Solution - Promos w/stock issues

Status: Acknowledged
by on ‎08-01-2012 03:01 PM

https://myrewardzone.bestbuy.com/

There are in-store promos that are available for RZ gamers club members(free & paid)

$40 off Twisted Metal

$40 off Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3(only for paid GCU members)

$25 off Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

Now I'm glad to see better deals being offered to paid GCU members since this is a well deserved(thank you keep em coming) perk but the issue at hand is stock. I don't believe this is a stock clearing clearance deal since neither of these titles should be on clearance & they're still on the website. Not to mention the @gamer coupons seem to be a better way to clear stock & improve the GCU subscription based all in one move.

But it's hard to find copies of TW even before the deal went live which can be frustrating for people interested to get in on the deal only to find out 4-5 BB's in their area don't have it in stock or stock is so limited already that people just "reserve" a copy thru in-store p/u, then return/rebuy using the coupon.

In cases where this takes place & the stock in area(s) is just so limited we should be able to have the discount applied to online orders vs losing out on the deal altogether. I fully understand that the purpose of these coupons is to increase store foot traffic so it should only be made avail. when local stores are either severely limited with stock or are completely sold out. The larger discount would generate more paid GCU memberships but not if people can't participate in the deal that's actually making them want to join which doesn't help BB at all. And now the customer is unhappy & could loss faith in BB and/or the GC all together.

Same issue applies here too

Pitch-In Facebook Integration

Status: Acknowledged
by on ‎02-19-2013 01:43 PM

I just had a quick suggestion.  Now that you have a Reward Zone Facebook app, you should integrate your Pitch-In program with it.  That way, when your birthday or other special occasion rolls around, people can send funds to your Pitch-In card via Facebook.  Facebook supplies information, like your birthday and when you change your relationship status, etc.

Anyway, just trying to help.

Status: Acknowledged
Pitch-In no longer exists Thanks for the idea.

Customer reviews are a great resource for everyday people to help make informed decisions.  For this to take place, we must have informed reviews from people that actually purchased the item.

For instance, I was looking at upgrading my MacBook to the new Crystalwell model and the only review on it (no joke) is as follows:

Review title: Looking for the top configuration
2.0 out of 5
2.0

What's great about it: Great, but this is not fully loaded
What's not so great: Not configured to the maximum specs
I am looking for this macbook pro with fully maxed out specifications.
That means
2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
1TB PCIe-based Flash Storage

So to recap, the reviewer left this review on the lowest end version (even though they claimed they were looking for the higher end) and the review title is "Looking for the top configuration."  There's a really good chance this person didn't even purchase the item and if they did the review itself is not value-added.  Its very similar to how on Amazon when peoople actually do purchase an item but something happens in shipment so they leave the item a 1-star review and rave about it and then say the delivery is what made them down-rank the item. At the very least there should be a way to remove irrelevant reviews (like this one has 50+ thumbs down).
Status: Tell Us More
I'm not sure how we could guard against reviews like this, but it does seem reasonable that we could remove reviews of this nature after-the-fact. I can say one challenge would be that if we were removing posted reviews it might look as if we are only letting positive reviews post in order to sway a customer's purchasing decision, and this could have the end result our customers not trusting the validity of our reviews. Any thoughts on this one? Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

Revive & Invest in Employee Expertise

Status: Acknowledged
by on ‎08-06-2015 08:51 AM - last edited on ‎08-06-2015 04:53 PM by Senior Social Media Specialist Senior Social Media Specialist

Back in 2006 (while in college), I worked at the Best Buy in Covington, LA as a "Wireless Sales Expert". Yep, Apple iPhones were just entering the mobile tech scene at the time. We had an amazing GM (Tom) who emphasized the importance of maintaining each employee's ongoing training, ensuring our specialized/ technical expertise within our respective departments. He inspired and encouraged us to learn as much as possible about our merchandise, the new market trends, and our competition. When our customers entered our doors, they came with high expectations... They chose to buy from the experts... From our store... Even if it meant spending a little more . They trusted us.

I love Best Buy but I don't see the employee expertise or the strong leadership like it once had. I think it's a mistake to commoditize yourselves like Walmart ...you'll lose. You'll lose the heart of your brand if you continue to sacrifice your employees' training and team building.
As a former employee and a BBY Elite member, I extend this feedback to your company because I believe in your company .... In your ability to revive the strength behind your brand recognition ...and your capability to invest in your greatest resource - your employees.

For what it's worth,

- Brittany {removed per forum guidelines}

Thanks for your thoughts on this. All our stores should still be making sure each of our sales associates are as knowledgeable as possible with the products they sell.

There are many like I that do not get involved in many ways just to buy items to get points and in the process are trying to build up there points for more expensive items.

In the process as example I am not rich but did manage to get to Silver membership, had a hard year and could not spend 2500 to keep my membership status and was reduced back to standared member.

Same applied with trying to save my points and they were taken away within a year.

I like many have used Best Buy for years with a loyalty to this store instead of doing online shopping elseware for the majority of our electronic shopping.

This is very cold hearted on Best Buy's part.

This needs to be changed to no expiration on our points or memberships of whatever statusit mightsit at that time.

I have lost many points and my now now longer membership of silver. I am so disgusted with this store that I am about ready to go elsewhere if this does not change soon!!!!

Granted hey have a great geek squad and black tie warranty  unlike any other store but this does not make up for the losses of many points and membships for many of Best Buys members over the last few years dues to not all can afford to keep up the $2500 spending limit over a calender year.

This needs to be changed!

Status: We Did It!
With the recent changes to our rewards program, that is now called My Best Buy, we no longer annualize member’s points each year. Members, regardless of level, keep their points as long as they remain an active member of the program.
