I love Best Buy and have been what's now an Elite member for some time. With that said, Best Buy marketing has gone crazy with the number of emails sent over the holidays. At this point, I want to opt out of all messaging to prevent the deluge. I can only imagine the sentiments of folks that don't shop there as much. Best Buy should allow a user to select a limit on the frequency of email messages within a monthly period.
Given that they are unlikely to change their strategy, I have unsubscribed for further Best Buy emails. I hope that helps marketing understand the impact of this 'strategy'.
I tend to have to agree with OP on this one. As a veteran Best BUy customer I normally already KNOW what I want to get during the holidays and only aim for those items. I check the deal of the day online on a daily basis and that's about all the marketing I personally need.
I can see where some would need it however I feel there should be a toggle option of some kind in newsletters or something. Something such as:
-regular email access
-one time access ( it might tell you about black friday etc once instead of 100 times!)
-no acess ( does not send out marketing items )
I agree that Best Buy is not doing it's self any favors but not having a restrict e-mails or opt out (unsubscribe feature on it's e-mails. Calling Geeks was a difficult and I now fied unsussessful way to do this!! Don
