Tomorrow Stores

We've become used to the idea of ordering online. Now we need places where we can see and handle online items, where we can place our orders for the items, with the promise to deliver them rapidly, say in 1 - 3 days. The retail outlet becomes a display space for manufacturers and importers, allowing them to offer a richer selection of their products. The retailer now becomes a presenter working for the producers. The consumer gets a superior selection of products, which they can handle, touch, or try on, something that's missing with online sales. Perhaps unused shopping malls could be used again.

We already have places where we can see and handle online items.  They are called stores.

what are you looking for that is different than what we already have?

Best Buy could not possibly display all of the online products that they carry.

Right now BB carries 239 TV's and 812 Laptops.

Currently stores are more like warehouses. What I am imagining is a "store" that only has single examples of the items they sell, and that quickly delivers your purchases to your home. That allows a richer selection and it give manufacturers greater opportunities to market their goods in these "stores" of tomorrow.

@DwightS I hear what you're saying but I agree with @bobberuchi in asking if you could clairfy more because what's different in what you're suggesting than what's taking place today? If it's assortment, than it's physically impossible to carry everything you carry online in-store, even if it's just one -- it's a physical space limitation.  And you'd be assuming that all Best Buy stores are the same size, which is also inaccurate. They have different sizes of stores and not all stores carry the same assortment because of this, but for the most part, the most popular items are carried across most stores. In regards to the fast shipping, a lot of items are shipped within two days. No one's juding the idea, we're simply seeking more clarification as to what exactly this tomorrow store looks like or how it operates that's different than today, respectfully.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I can't see Best Buy so dramatically adjusting their business model. What about customers that want to walk out of the store with the item they want/need?
