I used to buy ALL my DVDs and blu ray discs at Best Buy. In fact, I bought so many every year it was enough to keep me a Premier Silver member. Well, no more! I have mentioned on MANY occasions that you need to stop putting the sticker on the outer cardboard cover. Yes, many people simply throw this cover away. However, I'm a collector and keep mine. You used to use a sticker that was easily removed. Sometimes, removal still damaged the cover. I made a suggestion to lose the unnecessary sticker but Best Buy chose a different route. You simply went with a new sticker that is far worse. The new stickers are impossible to remove without damaging the cover. If the cover doesn't get torn, it leaves a horrible, gummy residue that takes a ton of work to attempt to remove which is rarely successful. So, not only did you not stop putting the unnecessary sticker on the package, you made the situation EVEN WORSE!!! I'm done. I'm not buying any more DVDs or blu rays at Best Buy. My idea, which you did worse than ignore, might retain other customers or get me back. Until the stickers are gone, you've lost another customer. A Premier Silver customer.
If I have problems with gummy adhesive residue on a product Put the tinniest drop of WD-40 on a tissue. Magically the residue comes off with a few wipes. WARNING. TEST it on a small corner to see if the WD-40 does not make the problem worse.
I don't think it is a good idea to get rid of them entirely, because then you would need to print the paper price tags for every single movie, which is a waste of paper, plus customers don't always notice them. Maybe we can just make them smaller or somehow use less sticker stickers?
If Best Buy implemented price scanners like Target and Walmart have done in every merchandise section of their stores, it would make the actual stickering of products a thing of the past.
I share this concern 100%. These Blu-ray cases that have slip-covers are an important part of my collection as a movie fan. But every tim I but a disc, the label never comes off right and if it does happen to come off, what is left is a gluey substance that is impossible to get rid of. When 3D releases come out, usually the covers have special lenticular 3D covers. Your stickers are ruining what the studios are trying to do with those covers, which can't be cheap for them. Certainly you can find a sticker that removes easily, the price comes up from the UPC anyway at checkout, so why is there a need to have the tag anyway? If it must be, get rid of the stickers that do not easily remove. I won't buy anything like that with a sticker unless it is on the plastic wrap, but many movies come with slip covers and you are ruining them.
