Product Availability on Web Pages

It would be great if there were an option to filter the view of products that were in stock at the local store(s) selected by the customer.  That way, we wouldn't have to wade through pages and pages of product links in order to find out if you have in stock the product(s) we want at our local store.

Sometimes, (and by sometimes I mean most times) I would like to get a product that same day by just looking online at your website and finding what's available at my local store.  Otherwise, what is the advantage of buying from you as opposed to one of the many other online retailers and to add to the mix, I wouldn't have to pay sales tax if I bought from an online retailer from out-of-state.  If I have to have Best Buy ship the product I desire anyway, why not buy it somewhere else and save a little money.

I believe a version of this idea has been posted in the past, but I would like to hear if anyone else would like to see this as a reality? I should point out that you do have to pay taxes on purchases made through online retailers; the taxes are collected by the online retailer, but you are responsible to pay the taxes on these purchases when you file your taxes. Make sure you vote for an idea if you like it.

Actually to clarify, as I work in customer service, the sales tax is applied to where the product is being shipped or picked up at. Not the origin. Just wanted to make sure every knows. Smiley Happy

The web site does include local availability.  HOWEVER I agree it would be exceptionaly helpful to have the ability to select your HOME store and or your HOME store and those within a certain radius and have those choices saved for that session.  Then when you start looking for products either have those available nearby highlighted or filtered to show only those available.  Showing only those available however I think is a bad idea as Best Buy carries thousands of more products online then they do in the store and people may be turned off by incorrectly thinking BB does not have this or that item.

I have often purchased things online and went to my local store and picked them up the same day.

bobberuchi, you seem to missing my point about which functionality is missing.  Yes, I agree the site does include local availability but in order to obtain that information, you have click each product and then click on the store only to find out it has to be shipped to your local store(s) and not really In-Stock at your local store.

I also have an issue with your opinion that "people may be turned off by incorrectly thinking BB does not have this or that item."  If you have to click to filter the results, then you know that you are only looking at local results.  How can anyone not understand that there are other products that BB carries when you are trying to filter those products out by your action(s)?

For the life of me, I can't figure out how or why Best Buy won't do this, yet on the Future Shop site it tells you exactly how many of an item they have at any given time.
