I ordered a few items from bestbuy online with free shipping and they came in the manufacturers box, complete with pictures and holes from shipping. The product had some damage from not being shipped in a real shipping package and I will have to return the item. Additionally, it ruined the surprise given that the one who the package was for collected it at delivery.
I dont have this issue with either Target or Amazon. Everything I've ordered from both of those come in a shipping box, even if it's unnecessary.
I will admit to being fairly ignorant when it comes to what our packaging standards are, but I can't imagine we always ship with the manufacturer's packaging. My guess is that if an item is inside manufacturer's packaging, and that packaging is strong enough to handle shipping, we don't put a box around a box. I certainly understand the surprise thing, and will admit that is concerning. Would anyone else like us to always package over the manufacturer's packaging? Make sure you vote for an idea if you like it.
Yeah, I do understand why BB would go the route of shipping mid to large items in their native manufacturers boxes. In the days of free shipping, retailers are eating alot of cost.
That said, most manufacturers' packaging is insufficient to ship safely and reliably through services like UPS direct to customer. They may be sufficient for shipment from the manufacturer to the warehouse to the store and then it's up to the customer to handle it post purchase.
I merely wanted to add shipment packaging as a suggested improvement.
I have to agree with chauncey about safety in not letting the neighbors and any package handlers know what I have.
I agree with this 100%. I did not have a problem with anything I bought during the Pre-Blackfriday online sale for MyBB members. Everythign was packed in a second box. If the Digital Camcorder was shipped in it's factory box I would be irked. This lends items to easily go "missing". Imagine a camera or a PS4/XBO being shipped in it's original box. People see it and know what is in the box. They can just take it. It never gets delivered and it creates a huge problem. The problem doesn't only effect the Customer who didn't get the item but the shipping company and resources at Bestbuy itself. It's a domino effect. If missing items is a huge problem for BB then having a requirment for "putting a box in a box" is a quick fix to reduce the problem.
I agree! Product needs to be shipped in another box. I ordered an electronic dinosaur for a xmas gift and had I not been home and had a UPS driver with enough sense to knock on my door to let me know it wasn't packaged, the gift would've probably been taken off my porch. I do not like people knowing what I am purchasing. I understand that they are trying to go the cheap route because they are eating costs due to free shipping but if you can't package correctly because of this then don't offer free shipping. I am sure customers wouldn't mind paying a flat rate shipping to conseal their purchases.
I agree also. But if you only knew how the stores received their stock. WOW!!! I can not say how Best Buy receives their stock. But I've seen how GameStop stores receive their stock. It is usually just thrown in a big box WITHOUT ANY packing at all to protect the items. So items are just loose in a big box!!! Talk about damage!!! And a lot of times when they home deliver they just toss it on the porch or ground. So there are a lot of hands that can damage your items before you receive it!!!
What are the features which can determine the quality of packaging boxes?
We have to get focus on some key points to achieve the best quality of packaging boxes. I did research and wrote on it. Have a look:
