So rigth now Best Buy is having a "Yellow Tag Event" with an emphasis on moving open items and clearance. Now that open items are posted on BestBuy.com it becomes even more important for inventory to be accurate. Case in point, a store across town was showing they had an open box item in-stock and something told me to call before I went over. It took the guy about 15 minutes to go look (which reveals another problem around the organization of inventory) and he said they didn't have it. There should be a way to better sync whats displayed on BestBuy.com with what's avaialble in-store to avoid customer disappointment.
Furthermore, looking across my area there were two other stores with the same exact item in the same conditon from $100-200 extra. Why? Lastly, the item I was looking for was an Apple laptop; The longer stores sit on these the more they should be marked down and Best Buy associates need to be educated on the fact that the warranty on these laptops does not reset when the item is returned. I've purchased an open box and the store had sat on it for two months (unknown to me at time of purchase) and when I tried to have the warranty reset, I came to find out warranties can only be reset if the second sale takes place within 30 days of the original sale. Because Apple refused to reset the warranty I ended up returning the laptop.
