Best Buy,
Please make the return policy so it is standard and one clear policy for everyone regardless of membership status.
Electronic items such as digital cameras with memory cards included in this due to the nature of memory cards, computers and tablets and other things should have a 45 day return and exchange period. Must have a picture to prove it is you returning and exchanging the item.
Non electronic items: The kind of the items that are low dollar such as cords and cables, wall chargers, camera cases, computer cases, tablet cases and other types of things that people buy and use, should also have a 45 day return and exchange period. With no picture needed as proof to return and exchange.
Please make it one clear policy for everyone. One standard policy no matter what your membership status is.
It needs to be a set standard for everyone.
You might even gain back custumers and gain new customers.
bad idea, that why i spend so much money at Best Buy in order to get a longer return policy. @sharistein spend at least $1500 at best buy and you too can see a longer return policy.
I am an Elite Plus Member so I have 45 days already. The way it is now, is unfair to those who do not spend as much money to even get 45 days. It is not fair to just have 15 days for the lowest of memberships or even those who are not a member. Why should those who are not members or those who do not spend as much get only 15 or 30 days? Yes those who are members and who spend alot should get alot of bonuses and incentives to spend at Best Buy. I just see so many complaints about return and exchange periods that Best Buy needs to make it one and for all.
45 days for all people who shop at Best Buy regardless of being a member or not being a member.
45 days no matter what membership level.
Yes if a member obviously we deserve more rewards. The membership status should have no standing in how long an item should be returned and exchanged. Why is it 15 days for non members and My Best Buy members, 30 days for the Elite and 45 days for the Elite Plus? It makes no sense to have it like this. It causes too many problems. Make it easier and have it be 45 days for every person who buys at Best Buy regardless.
If a member yes one should absolutely have more incentives, more rewards. I am talking only about the return and exchange time frame.
While I never mentioned anything today about restocking fees, maybe a small fee should be added to opened items. Not to exceed 20% of the item's total cost. Brand new items should just go right back on the shelf.
No restock fee on certain items though such as cleaning clothes microfiber clothes stylus pens, stuff like that. The lowest cost items should not have a fee.
Maybe items that cost up to 49.99 should have no restock fee.
50 dollars and above should have a small fee to it.
I have to think this further and add some information to my idea, but I need time.
I wrote this as a response to about online orders somewhere else on this idea area. I wanted to put it here too. Please remember I am talking only about the return and exchange period time frame.
This is the part where I responded about online orders:
The return and exchange period should start the day an item is received by the buyer or owner of the item. That being said, I agree return and exchange policies should be displayed. It is confusing and I can't seem to find information anywhere on this either.
Once though the item is officially received, that is when the return and exchange policy should start.
Also, if an item is mailed back on time, but not received until after the return policy ends for online orders, but there is in fact proof there was a shipment, then there should be extra time provided there is proof the item was mailed during the return and exchange period time frame.
Having said this, it should be 45 days regardless of membership status. No more of this 15 30 and 45 days. Return and exchange period time frames must be the same for all people who buy from Best Buy.
Remember I am talking only about the return and exchange time frame.
Those who have a membership status absolutely should be rewarded in many ways for the amount of money we spend at Best Buy. However, the return and exchange time frame should be the same for everyone.
Honestly, I agree with sharistein to an extent. Even retailers like Kmart have a NINETY day return policy on stuff like video games for EVERYBODY. I think it's even printed right on the bottom of the receipt as to when your last day for a return is.
Although just like Best Buy I haven't really bought much of anything from Kmart in a while either. So maybe they changed that.
But honestly enuf, if BB re-instated restocking fees, then that would be one more reason for me to avoid buying from them from here on out. I mean, aside from the end of @gamer magazine and it's great coupons, the lack of actual sales coinciding with the remaining Gamer's Club coupons that now EVERYBODY gets access to and the fact that honestly there's not alot I'm looking forward to that's coming out anytime soon.
I think an issue with longer return policy program is that some customers tend to think of a store like Best Buy as a rental store.
I used to sell computers (a while ago when not so many people had them) and after mid terms we would start to get college students in to buy a computer and printer and return it a week later.
One time I was checking a Mac that came back and found the persons mid term papers still on there.
I think a store would find themselve with a lot more open box then they want on luxury electronics if they had a longer return policy.
In reality if a product breaks or quits working after 30 days it really is not Best Buys fault. It is and should be a warrenty issue via the manufacturer.
