It would be great if items on a list (either all my lists or just one of them) could drive an alert when that item is part of a:

a) Flash Sale

b) Deal of the Day

c) Weekly Ad

d) Promotion

e) Discounted / Discontinued / Open Box

Tracking the original price against the current price could incent me to buy when I see it for less through a notification from BestBuy.

Thank you,

I do believe they did have something like this not to long ago. And I believe i recall people getting mad because they would get notified when something came back in stock and by the time they go to it they were gone.

But this is a good idea. I started keeping a wish list and it would be great if I could get customized notices based on my wish list.

I agree with this as well. I get emails literally every day with so called "sales". I find that most of these aren't great deals at all. And flash sales are just a gimmick to get us to make an impulse purchase. They are usually just matching the price of Amazon, anyway. It would be nice however, of we can track an item so that when there is that good deal it is easy to find.

I should mention that already had this feature.

IFTTT has an option to track a SKU for price changes but it only lets you track one at a time.

Along this same line, why not have a wishlist notification system? If Steam can do it, surely best buy can figure it out. If it's on your wishlist and it goes on sale, notify everyone who has it on their wishlist. Right now you have to manually monitor your wish list... What's the point of a wish list if you aren't notified when something goes on sale?  I picture Best Buy just standing by the river throwing money in randomly... "We could get people to buy this thing we put on sale but.... nah.

From a business owner point of view you want people to buy things.  However, you want them to pay the most amount of money.  To let people know when an item is on sale on purpose your cutting yourself out of some profit.

Personally I think people need to work for it.

@bobberuchi, why not just never have a sale? Why not just always charge full price if you think that's the way business is done? Are you so short sighted as to think that perhaps stores like Best Buy don't get incentives from time to time on certain products from manufacturers? These incentives can bring in higher revenue even at a lower cost to the consumer, but evidently you don't think people who want an item deserve to get it at a lower price. Or maybe you are saying that merchants should always demand the most profit and forsake any sale that has slightly less profit? After all, isn't there a reason something goes on sale? Or do you think something going on sale is always just some kind of fluke?

There is a reason something is on a wish list and it's usually because the perceived value isn't equal to the price. Otherwise it wouldn't be on a list, it would have already been purchased. From what you are saying, it's not worth it to Best Buy to actually make that sale and get some profit. Is that becuase you think no profit at all is much more desirable than a slightly lower profit? Unbelievable.
