MyBB becoming part of the "Plenti" points program

I`m sure tons of customers would welcome MyBB with open arms to the Plenti points reward program. It allows points earned at one retailer to be redeemed at other retailers. Not a bad deal to be able to get customers from other retailers in your store with what amounts to some store credit accrued from a retailer that may not even sell the same items as BB. More incentive to buy at BB knowing the points can then be combined with existing points allowing for a more guilt free big ticket purchase like a tv/tablet/smartphone.

Thanks for the input, but if points earned from our My Best Buy program can be used to make purchases at other retailers it is doubtful we will participate in this program. With that said, I would like to hear what others think about this idea. Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

I'm not familiar with this rewards program. Would points earned from purchases at Best Buy through our My Best Buy program be able to be used towards purchases at other retailers?

I looked at the program and it appears to be an American Express rewards card program that pays 1% on normal purchases.

Essentially you have your AMEX and you make purchases and then get your reward.

My US Bank Visa rewards card allows me to get Best Buy Gift cards.

I think a lot of it would depend on if or how much Plenti wants to charge BB for being in their program.

I also have a Discover card that offers rewards and they are not nearly as good as US Bank Visa.

For the company that is in it this is kind of like marketing for that company.

If it didn't cost BB to be a part of it I would say go for it.  But AMEX is only around 11% of the market where as Visa is over 50%.  If your going to pay for marketing go where the audience is.

Allan, I think that it really is an American Express Card that has 1% rewards.  AMEX charges a company 4 to 5% on each charge and the turn around and give 1% of that back to the customer.  The things they give back are gift cards to various stores.  My Visa does the same thing.

However, judging by the limited number of rewards places avaialble to this program AMEX must have something that makes it unattractive to a lot of retailers.
