Dear Best Buy,
Please support Apple's new Passbook service! I enjoy being your customer, but I'm disappointed you haven't enabled this green solution for loyalty and gift cards. I'm ditching all my physical cards and would love it if I could replace yours with a pass.
This can be easily integrated with your current Best Buy App for the My Best Buy Members being able to show Member Name, Phone Number, Member Number, and current points. This could work with gift certificates too.
This approach is better than having it available from the app and with Apple Push Service you could automatically check in the user.
I say upgrade, but what I really mean is go back to the drawing board. The reviews on it are terrible and I'm not here to criticize yet inspire: picture this - a Reward Zone app that tied into the new Passbook on iOS 6. Reward Zone certificates could also be issued via Passbook along with target mailers (which would save Best Buy a ton on printing the reward zone cards themselves, it would save customers ink paper and trees) and it would be more convenient because the App could support location services where it could offer to redeem the coupon the same as my Starbucks card does when it detects I'm near a Starbucks store - it pops up my card and asks if i would like to open it in Passbook. It could also work as a reminder to customers to utilize their Reward Zone card because nothings worse than buying something and then getting home and remembering you forgot to mention your rewards (and the employee forgot to ask) and then you have to go through the long tedious task of verifying your purchase online. Furthermore, it could also store other membership cards, like if you purchased your Tech Support card and that would cut costs as well and once again save on more trees and cardboard.
It seems for an electronics store, Best Buy always sends me home with a bunch of cards and paper when I buy TV's, tablets, appliances, etc. and I think there's a bit of a cruel irony to that whereas you could really digitize a lot of that stuff and make life so much easier for all of your customers.
Did you ever think about making a Passbook version of the BestBuy Reward Zone Card available to those with an iPhone?
Wouldn't be hard to do and everyone would love it.
I always run into the problem of misplacing/losing my card. Then I have to tell them my phone # and wait patiently while the cashier types it in. (Inevitably incorrect the first few tries until finally they get it right)
The worst is when I forget to mention I have the card and I have to go home and enter the recipt online - I never end up having time to do that and miss out on the points completely.
Having a passbok version of the card on my iPhone means it will always be with me. And like most passbook apps (Scene, Starbucks, Etc.) it can use geotags that will alert me that I am at a bestbuy, and with one simple swipe I can access my Reward Zone card immediatly from my lock screen.
Think about it...
Thanks.
I would love to see something implemented like this and the possibilities are endless but I think this could be applied to certificates from My Best Buy too.
Ideas should be consolidated; this has been suggested in the past and nothing ever really came of it. The problem with leaving it as is, is the same ideas get posted over and over again and they only get 2, 4 etc. votes whereas this has been posted at least 3 times now.

@gadgeteer, Thanks for pointing this out. It is hard for me to manually remember ever idea that was posted in the past. When I do I try to merge them together as I have done here.
This could be very beneficial to Best Buy as many companies have already embraced this new revolution in technology and it would be very easy to integrate these into systems.
I am a true Eco friendly person at heart and this small problem has constantly kept me from joining My Best Buy. I hope this is added soon to the app and then I will consider my new possibilities.
