More ID options when trading in

Hi

I'm not sure about the implications of my request are and I will probably not get much support because I'm a very specific market, but would it be possible to add more ID documents options when trading in (video games, electronics, etc)?

I'm guessing there is a good amount of foreign people that get into your stores regularly, I'm one of them.

I'm a GCU member and I do a lot of my video games shopping in your stores but I've been denied when trying to trade in games because I don't have a state ID, this cuts one of the GCU benefits (10% trade in bonus).

This has caused me to take my business elsewhere. And when I say elsewhere I mean it. I can take my games to every other store that does trade ins without a problem (target, gamestop, walmart which are the most popular) and that's because they accept passport as a valid ID.

I hope my idea is considered as I would like to consolidate all my video game related shopping (at least) in your store.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply Allan

If the local competition is able to take in my games I'm guessing the laws around here allow the use of passport as identification.

What will be the correct way to communicate my inquiry so it reaches my local store?

@Linkslayer, I'm not entirely sure I understand your question. Are you asking how to communicate with your local Best Buy store? I would not be able to say why the local competition can take in your games for trade-in while we cannot.

I mean, I would like to be able to trade in my games using a passport, but your system is not able to take them.

Other stores like target, walmart and gamestop are able to select "passport" as the identification method, which means the laws around here permit it, but your system strictly asks for state ID or drivers licence

Now, based on your responses, it seems this is not the correct forum to ask for this, if so, how and to who do I communicate my idea?

Thanks

@ Linkslayer, thanks for the clarification. It does seem like a passport would work in your area if the retailers mention accept it as a form of ID. Being that the rules to our trade-in program truly do vary from one community to the next this might not be the correct place to request this.

With that said, I really have no idea where to advise you to request this. Our stores have no real say in this, and our customer service contact avenues wouldn't be able to help. I guess you could write a letter to our corporate headquarters at 7601 Penn Ave. S., Richfield, MN 55423.
