Marketing of pre-owned games more aggressively

While I am a frequent shopper at Best Buy, some other game shoppers may not be and many of those people may not know that your stores now sell pre-owned games. Aside from a small section in one or two of the circulars since the inception of the used game/game trade programs at BB I haven't seen very much marketing regarding it.

If you guys want to try to take a chunk of Gamestops' business away you're going to have to do an advertising blitz to get the word out. However, this may not help due to the disproportionate numbers of some games stores are being shipped back after an apparently lengthy processing cycle.

I've noticed 7-10 copies of some older PS3/PS2/360 titles that have been sitting on the shelves since they first arrived 3-4 months ago. They include copies of Two Worlds II for PS3 and Enter The Matrix for PS2.

Unfortunately another thing that may be lagging behind is price drops on these games and even if they are implemented quickly the price tags are not always changed on the products themselves.

Moreover, Best Buy really should get their lawyers looking at how exactly Gamestop skirts local pawn laws and is able to put out traded in products immediately after taking them in. I say this because the one month or MORE turnaround time from when items are traded in till when they are finally shipped back out to stores to be resold is hurting pre-owned game sales just as much as the lack of marketing dollars being spent on it.

Don't know that I would go for an advertising blitz, but a banner on the front/side of the stores could definitely be helpful.

I don't feel that bbuy needs a huge/instant marketing plan.  I do feel they need a consistent/stronger way to get their name out and let people know they have a growing used game selection. Honestly I think that when most people hear the name gamestop they think used games and when they hear bestbuy they think new electronics, games, etc. I also think that bestbuy's used game market share is going to take a while to grow but has a lot of potential to grow.  As long as bestbuy keeps their foot on the gas and keeps pushing their deals I think they can become a more popular source for used games.

Cheapest is right about the way games are distributed, something needs to be done about that. I can go to my 2 local bestbuys and one will has 10+ copies of red dead redemption zombies, borderlands 2 dlc, and tons of other old games with practically no newer releases. I can go to the other best buy that is close and they have a nice set of 2-4 copies of nearly everything new and old except for some of the newer hard to find titles like skyrim.

Same. One store will have 6-10 copies of a handful of games. Go to another and they have a different handful of 6-10 games

Here's a simple solution in 1 way:Advertise certain prices in your weekly ad...Right now Homefront can be had for $3 used after @gamer coupon or $1.XX for GCU members & Resistance 3 is $15 or $11.XX for GCU. Show these deals in the weekly ad along with in store signs to gain more GCU members since the success of @gamer & BB gaming overall go hand & hand.

This months mag won't be as epic as last but going off the current months mag buzz(Darkness 2 new MSRP is $40) BB is moving in the right direction. We need a good sale price on Yakuza dead Souls though & a restock PRIOR  to the sale.

Problem is that if they have these used games in the ad they HAVE to have a set number of stock or it is illegal as bait and switch.
