Make Open-Box Items Search EASIER

Status: Tell Us More

Most other websites will tell you exactly in what city/store an open-box or floor model, etc. item is located.  On this is not the case.  You have to randomly guess zip codes and cities, and maybe you'll get lucky and find the city/store where the item is located.  This takes too much valuable time.  It gets even more tedious and annoying when you want to check several different brands of the item.  My brother travels a lot.  He can pick up the item for me, but I can't tell him where it's located unless I spend all day trying to find which stores have the item.  As stated previously, I have to search random zip codes or city names and cross my fingers. Ugh!

Please change this ASAP!  Even Sears will tell you where the open-box/floor model item is located.  You can do better than this Best Buy.

I'm using the open-box search for the first time tonight and couldn't agree with cjules more.  I'm also used to the search function on Sears Outlet where it will quickly show me where all open-box items are located. It is very frustrating to have to guess zip codes to try and find where an item is located.

That was my main reason for joining this forum where is the open box no one not even best buy knows the solution on how to find it. All I have ever gotten was call around do you know how many locations and time that would take like finding a missing person, not a detective just a consumer. Many times I wish the heck that they wouldn't even show they got it getting your hopes knowing you ain't gone neva and I mean NEVA LOL Find it The End WHY BEST BUY why provide the search if you can't show where it is! YIKES! I wish it was a EAZY CALL

It has gotten better, having a dedicated tab for open box, but I feel like there's still more work to do -- maybe making a dedicated open box area that can be accessed from the main page that starts with asking for your zip code for more localized results?

I feel like this has gotten better due to two big changes:

(1) You can now use the product filters (on the side of to just search open box items and the location/store filter at the top to narrow this down based on zip code or specific store.  When you go into an item it will also tell you stores nearby that have the item in-stock and at what price point/condition.

(2) You can now purchase open items online and even if it's not something they have in the area, for products in excellent or certified condition, you can order them online and a store that has the item in-stock will fulfill it.  While I wish you could do this for items in fair or poor condition, I feel like the reason why is because it's easy to tell someone that a product is damaged (i.e. dented) and they may be able to justify it sight unseen for the discounted price, but that perception can quickly change when you see how dented, dented can truly be.
