Introduce the MyBB Power Piggybank

Status: Tell Us More
by on ‎01-23-2014 01:31 AM

When a customer buys something rz pts go into their piggybank. However, these pts can only be spent during select shopping events. The amounts put into the piggybank depend on how much was spent, how you paid, was a warranty added... You`d also be able to put money into your piggyback by buying "reward giftcards" & loading them into the piggybank.

The longer the money remains in the piggybank the better the payoff. Set it up like a version of elite plus, you get bonuses for each threshold reached.

Once the week of Black Friday comes all the pts are available along with coupons & offers based on your wishlist, purchases & total piggybank amount.

This is designed to maintain/reward loyal consistant shopping & allow you to artificially generate spending on an as needed basis. Companies may pay you to offer incentives to be a piggyback deal which is great but you`ll need "staple deals" to keep consistancy.

I really do like the overall concept of this idea. I would like to hear from other My Best Buy members, or customers in general, if they would like to see a version of this idea. Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

Do not support it. Why should i have to only be able to use my points when I want to? That's silly. If I want to buy me a new toy I am going to buy it and use whatever I can at that time.

I like the idea if it is separate from the use of overall points earned regularly

@AW, @vann These are not the same as reg rz pts or 25% bonus pts you would still get those. That`s why the amounts given would need to be adjusted accordingly. My goal is for BB to overcome the their online rivals by offering a reason to buy it at BB as much as possible. But in return of your loyal shopping there will be a true payoff. I`m sure the execs will have a scale so if there`s $150 million in the entire piggybank they`d offer non ad sales or promos where people using funds from their piggybank get rewarded.

Plus it allows them to manipulate sales volumes as needed like when their projections are slightly off. They know that they can get 30%-50% of the piggybank volume spent in store. Not to mention what the #`s say about how much people spend above their store credit amounts.

So this is more like a secondary point system...it reminds me of GMG (greenmangaming) website sort of...

The only issue I really have with this is that very few people would actually benefit from this due to the sheer amount of points which would have to be collected from purchasing products ( and/or) reward cards. It's already discouraging that they made it so you don't get rz points for financing which totally infuriated me. They should nto jump quite yet!

If this is put in place correctly BB won`t have a problem making it easy to reach rewards. You currently get $5 for spending $250 so that`s probably the scale they`d work off of. So maybe a $2 per $150 as a baseline but keep in mind the pts mulitply the longer they go unspent. So $20 in Jan could be $40 in Nov. & this is why a person would rather buy an item @ BB vs waiting for AMZ to match to buy. Here`s some ideas

1- Spend $25 get 10 piggybank rz pts & $2 for Black Friday

2- Spend $50 get 20 piggybank rz pts & $5 for Black Friday

3- Spend $75 get 30 piggybank rz pts & $7 for Black Friday

4- Spend $100 get 45 piggybank rz pts & $10 for Black Friday

5- Buy a $25 piggybank card get $3 for Black Friday

6- Buy a $50 piggybank card get $5 for Black Friday

7- Buy a $75 piggybank card get $7 for Black Friday

8- Buy a $100 piggybank card get $10 for Black Friday

9- Add a warranty to any item get $10 for Black Friday They will have sales directly tied to the piggybank so you can replace Black Friday with any of those sales as well.

As an alternative to My Best Buy's point system I really don't like this. As a possible addition, maybe, but honestly this all seems way too complicated for Best Buy to really communicate to most customers successfully.

I think just some sort of bonus system in general would make sense. In fact, I'm going to go post this myself.

I support the concept. Call it Murphy's law, but it seems like when the best deals are going on, I am always a little shy on funds. If I wanted to purchase a television this week to take advantage of the Super Bowl deals going on, I could see myself doing a price match against other companies and then applying piggyback savings to help me pull the trigger on a purchase.
