Best Buy here in Waynesville, NC I have to say is pretty good store. The Location is not the best by any means ,that said I do shop there.  Sales people and Product knowlege in computers I have found is prett good and in camera dept as well.

I as in Marketing and Music for many many yrs. We live in very unique demographic here. I moved here fron New Hampshire 13 yrs ago.  The Smoky Moutains here word of mouth sells products and services before any TV add or Yellow Page add.

I had a few thoughts here. One is let's say you camera Dept. You have great variety of prodicts the Go Cam and so forth. you have the little Screen you can go watch this produced video. All well and good.

My thought is why would you not take some of these products put them into the hands of local people such as Photograpers that might go and cover a Music Festival ( I have one in mind is why say this) that i help produce. Or different events.

Let's use White Water Kayak events for instance which is huge in the Nanahala George. Bring those kind of identafible events  that the product was used hands on and people recognize.

Have the a live walking talking testimonial that could do an event in the store and take questions talk about the product. Honest reviews. This can could apply to many of the products in store.

I have friend who is Photographer and he covers major events and is sponsored by some very excellent organizations and we were talking about the fact it would be nice to have hands on in an actual setting to put products to the test. Same with Computers  This ridiculous Microscam windows product. I would begin loading Linux Operating Systems in a few machines in store.

Imagine an affordable computer that you do not need to add a bunch of hokey virus protection programs and can actually use.

For elderly people to point and click and not have run a bunch ad on programs just to use

I've been in a number of stores where the Digital Imaging expert for that store showcased some of their personal work to show what our products are capable of. I've never seen video showcased in this manner, and I can certainly see where you are coming from on this. I do think it would be logistically very difficult to be consistent in this nationwide, and results would vary greatly. Would anyone else like to see this in our stores? Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

We live in whole new age. The Evolution of sales is in very new era. I learned a lesson in the late 80's .   The lesson was people buy you before they will ever buy a product. I was lucky enough to end up helping somone one out with a product I had never seen before.

What had happened is the person I helped out was demoing a product. I watched him explain and show people this product. It was at large event and when you in event of nature I was atyou have to find the button to capture peoples attention or they move on.  I saw the product demoed and I took over for the person while he went to take a break.

An interesting lesson was learned. People were going by the booth and a few piped up Oh I have some that I bought last year itis a great product!

After a few times hearing this the light went on, Sir would you mind if I inquire what have you been using the product on.  DING! Consumer is now engaged! He or she walkes up.  Now you have the hands on consumer giving there personal testomonial.

People in you audiance so to speak are now asking questions.

Some hours later the person I was helping out returned He was a bit shocked I had sold so much of his product. He counted the product and the money. Then the question came.

How did you sell so much of this,

I explained to him people that had bought the product before kept going by popping off about what great product it was, I took to another level. I engaged the prvious consume wi th potential consumer. Then I also took the person who had the product and showed them other uses for it and how diverse the product was . I actually got repat business becasue someone did not finish the sale the 1st time. and I also made the sale on the 1st time buyer. So the previous buyer is now is truly a Consumer becasue he becoming a full time user

. Big Box Stores to me are missing the boat.  The economy is rough. that said I say it is great economy for companies that know how to become creative. They spend ridiculous budgets onn TV with hokey and tacky commercials. Branding?  Great term just to bad people really do not think what that really means.

I have friends they are on TV reality show. Of all the other people on the show they are the only ones that people want to sponsor.  I know why it is. Example Last spring my friends were boof for live appearances at a fair amout of Bike Rallies. So I went to halrey Dealership where i bought my bike 2 times I pitched an idea to them .  2 times the marketing person was absoultey clueless.

I went to private used Harley Dealership. The owner got it. I will sponsor them within a week 2 bikes customized  going to all the Events and Also appear on the show.  Not menion I handle the socail Media for them and the exposure.  That is just one example.  Think in terms of this in sales

A reality show came on TV it was sucessful. Now the market is saturated with them.   Everyone jumps on the bnd wagon and we are reality TV crazed. The key is to be the 1st with a concept and corner the market. Best buy could do this very easy  right now and engage people so easy and ge t them in the store and informed impulsive buying and leave the other chais in the dust. I know how to do it!!

Certainly personal experiance with products a sales person is selling is certainly one of the key factors of being able to sell well.

For example I work in the Tablet section of my store. When people ask me if they can do something I can show them exactly how they can do it as I've done it myself. From showing just what kind of games they can play, how one could set up their own homescreen to hey can that tablet work as a golf GPS? And it is definetely one of the ways to engage a custumer.

I never go to work without my own personal tablet, it is my best selling tool. (And all sorts of tricked out.)

Another success story my store has has was taking an open box iPad mini, having Geek Squad do a shield install for us and put a Apple Branded smart case on it. We never sold so many smart cases and shield installs than we did before doing that. Because we are selling through example of "What can be!"

Thank big is all I am going to say. Big Numbers and a whole new revolutionized approach to how the store does business. Outside the box, When you operate in the box just like all your competitors you have compeitors. Be one of a kind, Be unique, Set the platform for yopurself to work from. #BeOrigonal
