I meant game of the year editions being separate from original editions on the rule of 3, not collectors editions.
Is 22 up votes not enough to get this moved up? I see ideas with less votes get moved to under review...
I know Best Buy is my go to place on Black Friday. If something is on sale especially video games like Pokemon I tend to buy A LOT (usually 3-5). Not even for my immediate family. I have tons of cousins that have played since the first games came out. I wouldn't mind the 20% discount coming off after the third one since I'm usually the one who buys them their games. Having to go to another store for fear of losing my account frightens me. I've had to cut down on buying games in case a GOTY comes out in the future. I also would like to know if Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are "the same game" under this rule. I plan on buying 3 of Ruby and Sapphire when they come out but don't want to get in trouble, wouldn't mind the discount coming off if that's the case. Just want to give you my money.
I can see this being benefical for people during the holidays and when gift shopping too.
It seems like a "gift purchase" or some way to tell the system to ignore the discount but still give us points for My Best Buy would be benefical. That way we can make gift purchases during sales/holidays and don't have to worry about running over the limit accidentally (granted that shouldn't happen very often but take Smash Brothers for example where some people will be buying 2 copies already with the Wii U and 3DS and then if it was gifted to someone you'd be hitting the limit).
The other reason I see it being beneficial is in a few years from now we might want to buy a game when it's cheap or to get a friend to play with us and if we've already bought it like with the Smash Brothers example above we could inadvertently hit the limit.
Either way I understand the point of the limit and don't see it being a problem for most people but it's the rare times where we might run up against it during gift purchases or just a few years later.
3 titles per the lifetime is ridiculous, here is another question. What if we let our membership expire then start a new membership. Can we now get the same game 3 times with the discount? I am hoping we don't get a generic "we are not moving forward with this idea"
@Allan-BBY have you heard back from the team on this yet?
Thanks for all the input on this idea. We have made the following changes to our Gamers Club Unlocked Memberships.
The limits for using your Unlocked membership will be three copies of a New (i.e. not pre owned) gaming software title per platform, per year. Collector’s and Limited Editions count toward that title limit. Game of the Year editions, usually released much later including additional content do not count toward that limit but would essentially start as a separate game and limit.
