we all been there no? forgot about a upcoming collectors edition and had to order from another store or even worse miss out completly.
now the idea would be GCU members get a email the 48 hours before bestbuy starts taking instore/online pre orders. this would give us first crack and a reminder the games ready to be pre ordered. limit it to one CE per GCU account a comming soon page where a GCU member could click each up coming game they want a email notification for in this program.
Sounds good in theory, but you should consider this as well. When collector editions are ordered a company has to have so many in stock in the first place. There would be a large complaint base if this happen. I am just guessing at this point but I would imagine there is a high volume of GCU by itself enough of a volume so where non-gcu wouldn't even get any.
I don't know the exact figures for either gcu or amounts of CE for products in generality but I know other sites who have done stuff for "higher valued members" for special deals and such before for early access and it would hurt them in the long run.

Another way to look at this is that if they did this it would be less income from the product itself.

Oh and before you say it...I am a GCU member
I feel though if there was a combination of devoted GCU and Eliteplus terms this could be profitable for example.
1) GCU discount can't be used
2) No reward points can be claimed on this (as reserving the spot itself should be good enough)
3) First come first serve
4) Must have been a GCU and retaining ElitePlus member at least five years in a row.
This would help to weed out the numbers a great deal.
1) no way thats defeats the reason for having GCU
2) i'd be ok with not getting the points
3) first come GCU members yes
4) no thats crazy.
I am suggesting these limitations to make it so regular members actually have a chance as well. CE are that, collectible. Collectors nationally would bea ble to compete for the products then. Not all collectors are gamers.
Would any other Gamer Club Unlocked (GCU) members want to see this as an option? Make sure you vote for an idea if you like it.
im sorry gamers should have first pick. those collectors are more likely flippers who are going to try and double their money off a gamer.
maybe even have a sign up early so BB could ask for x amount of units and if you are GCU you could be sure to get a CE if you want one.
Not at all Lonegunman718,
In the small population in my town a lone we have a small dingy GS there and I hangout over there a decent bit cause my Sunday School teacher is actually one of the managers...anyway there are some gamers who are collectors for example that we know who are always coming in. Who just want to know what new limited/collector edition items are coming. They come in all excited and all. We have even seen them come in needing to trading stuff when they don't have funds and they be almost in tears cause they don't want to give away the mint condition version of a game or a set or something.
