Fro shipping from BestBuy.com, allow customers to choose carrier

Status: Tell Us More

Some users have preferences regarding which carrier they'd like to use for their shipments. If possible, allow orders to have the option of choosing FedEx, USPS, or UPS.

The last shipments sent to me were using UPS, and even overnighted, they arrived a week late. My experience with BestBuy.com has been positive, however in the future I'll be less likely to order due to the forced use of UPS for shipments. I'd much rather pay extra to use FedEx or USPS.

I don't expect your preferred carrier to change overnight, only for the option to be opened up to the customer.

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion, and I would love to hear from others as to whether or not we should put this option into place? Make sure you vote for an idea if you like it.

Good suggestion, but going against preferred carriers is gonna cost you.  Setting up preferred shippers save companies quite a bit and shipping costs might end up going to you instead.

Newegg and Tiger Direct allow this. But you can also choose the shipping speed on BestBuy.com but sometimes there is the chance that the item don't fall within the shipping guidelines as it should. USPS Priority mail gets there much faster then UPS Ground in my opinion and it's cheaper to an extent. However I've also found the shipping charges on small items that may fit in a small envelope to be a bit excessive. There is always store pickup for that Smiley Happy

Carrier quality seems to vary by region, so some people may have great experiences with USPS and FedEx while UPS seems to fumble quite a bit. Or vice versa. While multiple carrier may offer guaranteed '2 day' delivery or have comparable 'ground' service, they may differ greatly in how well they fulfill that promise. I also know prices will vary and that Best Buy, like most companies, has preferred handlers and negotiated pricing.

Logitics can be tough because Best Buy has no choice but to allow another company to deliver their products and ultimately be a large part of the user experience in ordering from BestBuy.com. However, by giving customers the option it would put more control in their hands and allow them to be at least partially responsible for that portion of the experience.

As a business owner I can see where you are coming from. I often get requests for specifica carriers.  But now when your talking thousands of packages a day going out from just a few distributoin centers you can be talking huge extra heartache for shipping.

and one personss shipping issues are not anothers.  I acutaly quit shipping via USPS due to the repeated horrible handling of packages and the exceptional best chance for fraud.   I settled to one specifica carrier because over time they have proven to be the most reliable and taken owne ship of lost packages.  Of which I have not had a lost package in over 4 years now.

Another good reason to stay away from letting a customer choose their carrier is that eventually a mistake will be made and instead of going out with what they want it goes out a different way.  Now you have somebody who is going to scream and hollar and bad mouth the company.

I love this idea.  Everytime FedEx is set as the delivery carrier, It sits in their warehouse with a status that it is on a truck and ready for deliver for a at least a week until it gets deliveres.  Checking the status always continues to say that it will be delivered today.  I work from home those days to keep any porch pirates from taking my expensive electronics.   But if I have to take a week or almost two just waiting for a package that may or may not be delviered is not worth loosing my job over.   If I can not refuse FedEx as a delivery carrier, I will have to shop online somewhere else.
