They should have a buyback program to upgrade your TV so everyone can experience to 4K television who can't afford it Best Buy should buy your old television at a percentage to give someone a chance I have a 65 non Smart LG television I've never seen a 4K TV or experience what it looks like it should be a percentage that is fair customer service should be always number 1 in a business people love Best Buy they love it even more if they decided to help more with certain situations and Best Buy will make money doing it

Given the steep drop in value of TVs, over a very short amount of time, it is unlikely a customer would get much if we did buyback their TV. It is also very hard to resell a used TV as most people in the market for a new TV want the latest and greatest technology. With that said, would anyone else like to see a program like this? Make sure to vote for an idea if you like it.

As the technology grows and improves prices go up someone's going to buy a 4K TV then eventually it's not going to be worth nothing in the next couple of years butt if Best Buy had a buyback program they would be able to get something towards something don't do it all the time maybe you can be a seasonal thing every 3 months give people time to save money for example oh I can't wait for Best Buy to have that buyback program next month I have $500 saved up plus my old TV not too old of course like I said before customer service is number one in a business especially Best Buy happy customer happy business don't get me wrong Best Buy great and they get a lot of customers but attracting certain kind of customer grab the attention of others like me

I think a lot of people would like it.  But what would Best Buy do with the old TV?

If a TV was only a year or two old I could conceive of them being able to re-sell it.  They would have to budget in what they give you for it and try to figure out what they could selll it for.

At TV 3 years ago that sold for $1000 may only be selling for $300 to $400 if it was stil around.  Then the company has to have it checked out and dedicate shelf space for it.  Selling a 3 year old used TV that brand new goes for $400 they would be good to get say $200 for it.  So after what they have to invest in your old set you would be lucky to get $50.  And it is probably not as easy to sell a used TV as it is a used car.

And Best Buy is not really set up to be a used Electronics store.  Granted they have open box items generated from returns but those items are less than 15 days old when they come back.  And they can be hard to sell.

A lot of what bobberuchi just posted it on point. In addition we would have to factor in the percentage of units we "bought back" that will never resell to someone else, and what the cost of those units will be to us. We would also have to determine what the cost of additional labor, IT, facilities, etc... will be. Taking in all these considerations it is very likely that any models we did "buy back" would not be bought back for very much at all.

Money money is what it comes down to let me explain the percentage can be 40% to 50% if that's what Best Buy is worried about and not the customer why not give the percentage back on a gift card Or store credit you're not really losing any money because you're getting it right back and then the customer is happy when they're able to buy a 4K television or whatever technology is out at the time and as for the old televisions scrap them reuse the parts and resell the ones that are not that old floor models open box and even if they don't buy a television they got to spend their Best Buy gift card somehow buying other products and Best Buy

Factor in as a gift card. Which is what I assumed in the first place. Then read again what I wrote nothing changes. Your best bet would be to try and sell your tv
