Extra $3, $5 or $10 per trade in Gamer`s Club Unlocked(GCU) promotion

One of the main weaknesses in the used game dept. of BB is that overall stock is very hit or miss. A way to increase stock & increase GCU subs would be to offer some more innovative promos outside of just the 50%/100% bonuses. Offer an extra $2, $3 or $5 per trade on titles that have at least a $2 or $3 base value on trades with a total of 3, 5 or 7 total games. Or offer an extra $10 per trade with 8 or more games.

And the system needs to adjust accordingly when the customer has enough games to warrant additional promotional credit. So if I trade in 17 eligble games then I`d get the $10 promo twice for a total of $20 extra credit.

You also need more targeted game promotions, meaning when your stock is lacking of certain titles say Mario Kart 8 then print promotional materials specifically designed to get people to trade Mario Kart 8 in. Do this at least twice a month with a list of 5-10 games & market it as "BB`s most wanted trades". You`re gonna make a higher profit on reselling used titles than new ones so this should be a no brainer. You already have the used game deals of the week socross promote the two for the benefit of the entire used game dept.

The only downfall with these added promotions is that the staff needs to be on the ball completing trades faster & correctly.

If you can think of a faster/better way for BB to increase their overall used game stock as always I`m all ears. Getting a customer to trade in 10 games does alot of things causing a ripple effect

1- Increases the chances of an upgrade to GCU b/c the 10% could be $30-$40.

2- Puts alot of credit in the customers hand in a store that thrives off big ticket sales.

2A- Big ticket sales = high profit add ons from these customers 2B- BB could offer the promo when high demand products outside of gaming are releasing to further increase the odds of the customers spending asap.

3- If each game in the trade is priced correctly BB profits per game & overall increase by 10x per customer

4- Word of mouth/Nosey people will notice the large total amount given bringing more attention to used games trades & sales. Indirectly GCU too which can also generate more subs.

5- Large influx of games overall & popular high value in demand titles

6- Having another promotional tool in the toolbox that can build the GCU portfolio strengthens the brand.

i agree with @AWBrown , the part about Best Buy's most wanted game sounds like a great idea!

I was thinking about this "most wanted page" some more and I thought that maybe this idea could be even furthered from a standpoint of customer to business to business to customer relation. Let me explain:

Considering trade ins are done in store then you could express your desire as a custome to the associate that you would like to look out for a specific game to come out in the program. For the game to reach the "most wanted" page there must be so many people who are warting this title up.

Now, let's be reasonable though at the same time there are generally three types of games bought like this

-the type that are  brand new but people don't want to buy a  entirely new  game retail price

-a game that they have either played before, or know is really good or heard good stuff about it so want to play it their own self

-a game they just really "want"

So why not allow an optional "incentive" to those who pay a small  fee ( $3-5? ) for the  game to be a  featured d esired and will  become most wanted  easier than others. For example, if somebody paid  $5 they may get  "three votes for most wanted " instead of "one vote for most wanted"

I hope that made sense o.0...

Or to add on to this idea some more, NORMALLY people who shop at BestBuy a  fairly good bit will have these  little  value dollar  certificates. Make a trade in  program so  you trade in a  $5  program to get more votes for the  msot wanted  page.

@AW, if they`re gonna charge a fee I`d rather they personalize the deal. For a $5 pre-sale you get the 1st used copy of the game(s) either ship to home for free or held for store p/u. Done on a 1st come first serve basis & either offer an additional 5% off the used copy for 15% off total or a total of 5x mybb pts on the purchase.

An expansion of the trade in page would do wonders for this, have the Most Wanted trades list at the top showcasing the values in a way to boost GCU subs. Then have listings for the used versions for pre-sale and the 15% off prices showing. Even have a 15% trade in boost if you trade in mulitple games from the Most Wanted list. At least 3 games(ex. MK8, Watchdogs & Titanfall) should generate the 15% booster & pretty much secure the majority of the premier titles are traded into BB 1st. GS won`t be able to compete since by offering even more than BB would require them to raise/hold the used prices at a level that won`t sell.

Looking at some of the recent ads/promos from other retailers GCU is making a difference to where they`re offering similar deals that come close to 20% off. So BB should make them really feel the heat.

that's very true @enuf it would also make GS really be stopped in the woods heh

Since you guys are trying to emulate Gamestop with your trade-in programs, why not start doing the tiered trade-ins like they are/were doing that's geared more towards the lower valued games. It would add value to games that some of us may have held onto for too long that have next to no value otherwise to either your stores or Gamestop. It would also spur trade-ins of such games since $5-6 plus the GCU 10% per game may actually encourage trade in of older titles and lead to more unique games on the shelf for sale.

Not only that but I would like to see trade in value promotions for consoles of all kinds. Sure. You had the 'get $100 towards a PS4/XB1' promo. But some of us just want the trade value credit versus buying a shiny new console at this point. At least a 50% promo would be good but of course a 100% one would be even better. Smiley Wink

So how about it? Do some promos that might actually convince gamers to get rid of their older games and even their older systems.

That ideas from June of 2014 and even with 23 up votes it's still in 'tell us more' . I have the distinct feeling anymore that BB corporate lured us suckers in once the newly revamped program with the 20% discount was minted, took our money and now they don't even provide halfway decent sales to stack that 20% with.

Even the few regular Gamer's Club offers they put out anymore are laughable at best. It's usually X% off some way overpriced peripherals or cases for systems that still makes those pieces of Chinese made plastic hover around $10-12 a pop.

Gone are the days of $5 games that may have released a year or two ago. Gone are the days of promos actually being halfway decent.

Again, to me, it just seems like BB took our money for re-upping to this program and is laughing all the way to the bank with it. If I made $50-60 worth of purchases at BB this year it was a miracle. That's a far cry from 2013 and earlier years.
