Elite Plus Status Rollover

Status: Acknowledged
by Dagirlgenius on ‎02-05-2018 07:13 PM

I spent over $8000 on my Best Buy card last year, which is twice the amount needed for Elite Plus status, however, I have to spend another $3500 this year to keep my Elite Plus status. Due to the fact that I spent over the $3500/yr quota for Elite Plus status in 1 year, I think it would be a great idea to have it roll over, so that I get a year of Elite plus status for every multiple of $3500 I spend in a year. Maybe this could be a perk specific to Elite plus members or you could also apply the concept to Elite members. Thanks for listening Smiley Happy

I hear where you are coming from on this, but we are not making this change to our My Best Buy program at this time.

Nice idea but it kind of defeats the purpose of the program in the first place. Which is to get people to spend money year after year.

To do it the way you suggest they would have to do something like not let your rewards over 3500 points apply until the next year thereby holding your reward certificates in limbo so to speak.

There are also a few people who slant the system and purchase for a business.  But they are also the ones clammoring for a next level tier.

It always amuses me when I see people say they've spent THOUSANDS at Best Buy in a given year. HOW? Maybe I'm not seeing the insanely good deals these other people are or they just needed the item(s) right then and there and couldn't wait(replacing every appliance after a major disaster perhaps?). But this chain has definitely gone back to my last choice for buying electronics and gadgetry anymore, especially since every one of the 'loyalty' offers are off REGULAR pricing. Maybe if they made those offers off sale prices like the old Gamer's Club coupons would stack with I might buy a few things, but not when the 'deals' every week are 5-10% off MSRP and I can find them cheaper elsewhere many times(and when I've tried matching at BB they scoff at doing so).

I've been elite plus for so long I still have one of the physical cards. I do agree that the loyalty offers haven't been all that great and I also miss the members only nights at the store and the old parts web site where you can find almost any part for anything ever made. I would probably spend even more if their stock levels were a bit higher on the items i buy. However the employees at my local stores are awesome and very helpful. I had a fridge delivered and the delivery team was also very good. At least for me Best Buy is still one of the top places to buy electronics and gadgets Smiley Happy

This would be an incredible option but I do agree with bobberuchi. Perhaps instead, as an elite plus member we could have the opportunity to apply a portion of the overage to the next year such as $1000 to reduce the amount we have to spend. Or to carry over 1500 so that we reach elite status at the minimum. That would give us a reward for spending more and still encourage us to spend a minimum of 3500 a year.
