Don't allow reviews on unreleased items

Why does BB allow users to review items that haven't even been released?  Take a look at the preorder games and most already have a few reviews.  What is the point of that?  User reviews are supposed to be a usefull tool for the consumer to judge if they want to buy something or not.  When you allow reviews to be posted on something nobody possibly has any hands on time with you devalue the entire review and star rating system.

I did hear back on this, and although this isn't changing at this time, it could sometime down the road.

I have to admit I personally agree with this, and I have no idea why this is the case. Would anyone else like to see us turn off the ability to review and item available for pre-order? Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

If I may,

First off I do agree but I would also like to point out two major key factors

1) Early access members normally can get a  "first experience" of the game and would be able to write a basic review. I do agree though that an advanced review ( which you rarely see on here anyway if we are honest ) would not be possible from a couple of days.

2) A/pha/Beta/Developing gaming testers are lucky enough to get normally two to three months of a headstart in a game to help the developers to complete finding any major bugs that need to be addressed. As a person who used to do some actual bug testing you can learn a lot about the game...sometimes too much and when the game comes out you just don't want to play it EVER again.Mind you, you are actually under a secrecy agreement so you shouldn't be writing any reviews anyway.

What I would personally love to see a change in reviews would be reviews to be sectioned off by the type. There are always going to be the more "technical" people like myself. Who are going to give rankings, specs, comparisons, fps benchmarks, etc etc while you may have a "generic reviewer" who isj ust going to be like "yeah the game was cool, good game"

What I would suggest is to make a :"advance review" and a "basic review" the basic review would have a short maximum amount of characters to keep it short and sweet to the point while an advanced review would have more depth and should require a lot more characters.

Personally I purchase very few games anymore without having read reviews, gotten input, or been on the beta program.

While AWBrown is 100% correct about advanced and basic reviews, I think it is good to get input from gamers who have played a game before it is released.

Personally I gave a negative review to Elder Scrolls Online about 2 weeks before it was released.  But I had at least 25 hours of game time before giving the review.

I would amend your suggestion with part of AWBrown's to only allow Verified Purchasers to make Advanced Reviews.

I agree with it. Last year there were so many people running around and giving the XBO and PS4 1 star reviews months before the consoles were even out and others giving rave reviews for them.
