Why has Best Buy taken away points earned for special financing? I made a purchase for $249.99 and never recevied points due to selecting 6-month financing. Why is Best Buy taking away points from its customers and not making the store employees aware of such a policy? This policy is not posted anywhere on the store fronts or by the registers. How is this ethical? Til this policy is made known in the store and online, points should be given to customers accordingly. This now makes me want to cancel everything I have with Best Buy move to buying straight from the manufacturers. Please fix this Best Buy, or show your customers the policy!
As a person who spends over $5k a year at Best Buy I can relate. I.e. all of my points added up this year big time and I purchased a $250 printer a few days back for $0! I'm glad you brought this issue up cause it isn't right. We purchase a large product that costs a large sum of cash yet we don't get any reward points? What's wrong with you Best Buy? You are still getting paid by the loyal customers.
100% support
@Allan-BBY it seems that the system is broken in this respect as I made a purchase on 10/9/13 for $249.99 and received 0 points for it. I made another purchase for a cell phone upgrade on 10/13/13 and chose the 6-month financing option and I'm receiving points!
Best Buy is NOT being loyal to its higher tiered customers and why would you not give points credit where credit is earned??? Show your customers the policy!
@ vaan285, that's strange. I can say you should not receive any points for any reason if you used financing on a purchase. The fact that you received points makes me think you somehow didn't get the financing option you thought you did. I would suggest you post this to the Points, Policies & Certificates board in the My Best Buy section of the forum.
Yes this is the new policy. We understand that. The problem is that this policy is going to discourage a lot of your loyal higher tiered customers from making purchases at Best Buy. Nearly every retailer offers a price match and 0% financing options. Why should I shop at Best Buy now if they're not going to give me points for purchases I use financing for? This policy needs to be changed right away. If it's npt I plan on making my bigger purchases at other retailers from now on.
@Dsalis99 i too plan to purchase my Xmas gifts this year through another site if this policy doesn't revert back to what it used to be. What's the logic behind it @Allan-BBY ?
Another Mad Customer: Your new policy of not awarding point to your higher tier customers who choose your financing option has done nothing for your Customer Relations. I was sold on the Rewards points and started buying my higher end purchases from best buy, even paying more than I could buy the same item for online, because I like having the point to spend on other items. Your lack of information and the changing of this policy will cost you. I like several others who have posted above will NOT purchase these items from Best Buy.
I'm confident I am not the only Best Buy member that feels this way, just one of the few who will take time to notify you how I feel. Most other will just quit making those purchases from you and will choose, as I have, to shop other vendors online and save money that way.
Really thought Best Buy was higher class. Guess you have decided to pay for those store upgrades on the backs of your customers.
By the way I found out about the new policy, because I was planning on buying a new Nikon SB-910 flash for my camera. This is a $549 purchase from your store or from you online service. I have already found it online from several vendors for under $500. I was going to purchase it from Best Buy anyway, because of the points, but will now purchase it from another Amazon vendor.
Thanks again Best Buy, you make my decision much easier with this new policy. I will use your store to view the items and purchase from someone else.
@vaan285; I was not part of the team that made the decision to change this part of our rewards program, which of course means it would be impossible for me to say what the reasoning was behind this decision. I can say that the more we hear from our customers on this the more likely it is that this could change in the future. Remember to vote for this idea if you like it!
i hope that items that were pre-ordered before this policy change will receive points without an issue. that would only be fair to assume. i hope this policy changes for the better, since i too will go shopping directly from the manufacturer and receive points from them.

@vaan285, at this time we will not be providing My Best Buy points for Special Financing purchases.
