Carry SteelSeries Nimbus Wireless Gaming Controller AND Belkin USB A-to-C Cable for Apple TVs

There are two HUGE accessories that Best Buy is missing out on a lot of money on in terms of attaching additional revenue to Apple TVs. Stocking these accessories in every store, would be a good start. Educating employees on what they are and why they're important would ensure a strong finish (and attach).

Belkin - 3' USB Type A-to-USB Type C Cable - Black (SKU 9511001)

The USB-C cable is the only way for the new Apple TV to interface with a computer for things like taking screenshots of screen recordings from the device and more importantly restoring the device to factory settings via iTunes (in the event that over-the-air restore doesn’t work). I've actually had several people coming in store looking for these and only one store in this market stocks them (out of 8). A quick online search reveled that a major office store chain carries this in EVERY store and all 18 stores in this market has them in-stock today. You don't have to read too far into that to see the opportunity. Translation: every store that sells the new Apple TV should stock this, if not every other store.

SteelSeries Nimbus Wireless Gaming Controller (Not found on BestBuy.com).

One of the first Apple-TV-compatible gaming controller available on the market currently. The SteelSeries Nimbus wireless controller lets you play hundreds of your favorite controller-supported games on your new Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. This full-sized controller's ergonomic design is perfect for gaming. It gives you 40-plus hours of game play with just a quick charge using the Lightning connector, along with LED notifications, an easy-to-navigate menu button, and pressure-sensitive buttons for the most precise gaming controls. Interestingly enough, the Amazon Fire Gaming Controller is at least avaialble online (no availability in any store nearby) but this Nimbus is nowhere to be found. Both retail stores from a certain big fruit company have this in-stock.

I have to say I have some SteelSeries products and I am more than very happy with them. I am sure the Nimbus is also a great controller.

However, it is a 3rd Party product designed to work with an Apple product. I don't how much of a strangle hold Apple maintains over Best Buy but considering the large selection of SteelSeries products available at Best Buy already, it may be that Apple says no, you cannot.  Apple only wants you to buy products for their devices that they manufactur and or control.  Phone cases are one of the few exceptions.

@bobberuchi I hear what you're saying and I understand where you're going, but I doubt that Apple has very much control over what Best Buy does unless its in regard to MAP (minimum advertised pricing) of its [Apple's] products. Case in point: Apple Product: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-earpods-with-remote-and-mic-white/6848136.p?id=1218809156050&skuId... Best Buy Product: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-earbud-headphones-white/4262500.p?id=1219740033010&skuId=426250... And I'm sure if you're Apple you're not flattered by that. Nonetheless, Apple has it's own stores to operate and most of the inventory Best Buy has purchased is that- already purchased - Apple's made it's money and Best Buy is free to do what it wants with it (which is why the discount it and put it on sale whereas Apple stores don't - it's a traffic driver and a differentiator in terms of "why should I buy from Best Buy instead of Apple?"). Apple does not own Nimbus, they just feature their controller in Apple stores because it is the first official controller (among many others if it sales well I guarantee it) that works with the new Apple TVs.

Having just purchased the new Apple TV myself I could see using this controller to play games. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this idea? Make sure to vote for an idea if you like it.

@Allan-BBYan update on this idea: some stores now carry it, but I'd love to see it roll out to all stores nationwide.  It would seem like there's room in the streaming devices area to display these for sell and/or maybe in the Mac accessories area too. Just a thought.

@gadgeteer, it's unlikely that we would be adding this at this time.
