Best Buy stores should begin stocking this cable as it is huge in the A/V world. A lot of older video cameras and music equipment rely on Firewire 400/800 to operate and I think Best Buy is missing out on a huge opportunity by not stocking these. On Amazon this cable ranks #97 out of the top 100 best-selling cables.
[Description from Manufacturer]
Easily connect your Thunderbolt-equipped Mac to a FireWire device with the Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter. Small and compact, it connects to the Thunderbolt port on your Mac computer, giving you a FireWire 800 port that supplies up to 7W for bus-powered peripherals like hard drives and audio devices.
Eventaully they need to get away from selling old technology products. Thunderbolt is the new standard, I really would not call 97 out of 100 as being huge. The number of 400/800 sales will start to decline dramiaticaly from here on out.
Bobberuchi, It's easy for consumers to say comments like what you did, but if you think about most musicians and what they make in terms of revenue, it's not exactly a high-yielding salary industry. That's why you have so many customers that are running on older equipment. Thunderbolt hard drives range in excess of $200 for a Thunderbolt 1 drive and in excess of $500 for Thunderbolt 2. Looking at Sweetwater's Thunderbolt music components, the chepeast one is $399...versus a $29 adapter. 97 out of 100 is also out of ALL of the computer cables that Amazon sells. If you took just their computer cables only, they stock 1,416,916 as of 6/9/14 at 9:00pm.
FYI this cable has now moved up to #15 on Amazon's Best Sellers in Computer Cable Adapters category. To give you an idea, the only other two adapters that are more popular are the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter at #13 and the Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter at #4. Best Buy should really consider carrying this sooner rather than later.
