Bring back your old Price Match policies

Status: Tell Us More

So I learned today that Best Buy changed its policy a while back about post purchase price matching.  I used to have 30 days to find a cheaper price somewhere else and you would match it, no questions.  Now, post purchase, Best Buy will not match any competitors price.  They will only make an adjustment if they lower it on-line or in the Best Buy stores within 15 days of purchase.

Pretty dramatic reduction in service, shows a lack of competetive pricing on Best Buys part, they obviously have had their prices beaten so often that rather than be more competetive, they choose to change the policy.

Best Buy now moves down a notch below those retailers who have more confidence in their pricing suchg as Home Depot and Amazon

I'm fairly certain we will not be going back to the old Price Match policy, but that doesn't mean we would never change the current one. Does anyone else have any thoughts on how we could improve our Low Price Guarantee? Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

I fully agree but don`t see it happening there was already a thread for this issue which had 60+ kudos & it was deleted.

30 days should be available for at least elite plus members since at $3500 they`re putting alot up. That would be a real upgrade to elite plus.

I agree, 15 days is pretty slim that's like only two weeks. I mean reasonable wise I can see why, 15 day return policy so 15 days to find a better price but at the same time it seems silly cause from a computer standpoint there are always gpu/cpu sales going on on like Amazon or newegg but it normally happens like once a month so if you  wait a couple of a days to short/long then well you just missed out on grabbing a good deal.

It has made me keep a sharper eye out. I now have to make sure I carry my phone with me and check prices from other places on the item I want before I go in to the store. It makes me a little hesitant to buy big ticket items with the scare that it could go one sale next week somewhere else and I would be stuck.

I understand from a business point of view.  And sometimes competitors will get a great deal from the manufacuter that is not extended to Best Buy (and vice versa) that makes it difficult to compete in that respect.

This is likely to be my last year as Elite Plus - through policy changes, BB is making it clear that repeat business is not that important.

Your loss, not mine.

I bought a Sonos Playbar at Best Buy for $699 on Jan 7 with my Best Buy credit card. On Jan 31 I saw it was on sale for $599. I called for a price match and was told, that under my membership, they would not match price as the price match is only good for 15 days even for their own store. The way I understand  Core customers have15 days, with Elite and Elite Plus having 30 and 45 days. And, the way I understand it membership level is simply based on how much you spend. This sucks! First, I was never told at time of purchase what level of membership I was at and the return policy as I bought the item in store. Secondly, I bought a TV previous year for over $1000 but it had no effect on my status as the level is based on how much I spent in calendar year. Again, I think this sucks as it basically limits the policy to only those who spend on major purchases yearly (over $1500). Again, this sucks. If I bought from SONOS direct I would have 45 days to return for any reason. If I bought from Amazon it would be 30 days. If I bough from Crutchfield it is 45 days. Why would I ever buy anything from Best Buy again when I have a longer window for returns (and in essence, price match) from other vendors? I am very disappointed with Best Buy. I have numerous TVs, sound equipment, and appliances in the past. Not again unless Best Buy changes this policy. You need to provide at least 30 days policy to match competors, If you wish return policy to be based on how much is spent with you then all purchases over a lifetime should be applied to receive a return policy beyond 30 days.

Hello @luisrtro - this idea and others like it have been posted in the past; to give these ideas more traction, it would be better to one-up someone else's posting rather than starting the idea completely up again. I'm linking other ideas that are similar to this one:

https://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Best-Buy-IdeaX/Change-return-exchange-policy/idi-p/712485

(currently has 5 up votes to change policy year-wide to 30 days)

https://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Best-Buy-IdeaX/One-clear-return-and-exchange-policy-for-everyone-at-Be...

(fixed 45-day return policy for everyone, currently has 4 up votes)

https://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Best-Buy-IdeaX/Bring-back-your-old-Price-Match-policies/idi-p/809604

(bring back 30 day price matches, 7 up votes)

Once again, not trying to minimize your idea/suggestion, but just helping you to get it considered quicker.
