Pre-orders are currently a pain, and there are several things that could be done to make them better.
1. Set a pricing policy for pre-orders. Something like "you'll pay the lowest price from when you place the pre-order to when it ships". Then make the changes on BestBuy.com's back end to make the policy work reliably.
2. Under an account's Orders page, add an 'Open Orders' or 'Pre-orders' filter, so we can easily find and manage all our open pre-orders.
3. Adjust the Price Match policy. Currently, we can only PM when placing an order. For a pre-order, this means we're expected to cancel the existing order and place a new order with the PM in place. Make it easier for orders that haven't shipped yet to be PMed.

An "Open Orders" filter is much needed and should be easy to do. I currently have a ton of open pre-orders and I have to wade through them to see which ones haven't been completed or cancelled.

These would all be great additions in my opinion. I keep a spreadsheet right now for my games and movies so that I can tell what I have pre-ordered without having to go back through my order history (and to prevent duplicate orders). Having an "open orders" selection would solve that problem.
As for the lowest price thing I've never been 100% sure if Best Buy already does that but if it isn't a policy I can see it being benefical for both the customers and the company by reducing customer service claims and solidfying pre-orders.
