BestBuy version of the Target Redcard w/5% discount & free shipping

I`d certainly consider getting a BestBuy debit card if it had similar benefits as the Target Redcard even if it meant choosing between a current BB card perk & the instant 5% savings. Being that it`s a debit card vs a credit card BB couod expect much more people adding the card to their wallets since credit scores wouldn`t be an issue. Other perks like free shipping & extended returns should be a staple too.

I`m not sure how Target manages to offer so much without charging a monthly or annual fee though. But for a 5% every day discount with free shipping & 30 day no hassle returns I wouldn`t mind paying an annual fee. Allow the fee to be paid all at once or monthly but offer a discount for full payment.

Other benefits that could be included in the package like incentives for buying warranties/open box items/Insignia or other BB brands, exclusive shopping coupons/events & for recruiting other customers. Early/extend access to sales would also be a game changer. You may even find ways to include perks/benefits that were taken away from other areas like the free tv calibration or mybb pts for choosing financing since you`d be charging a fee generating new revenue.

I do like this idea but I don't think it would be for everyone either. I have come to know that there are some people who don't mind annual fees and others who absolutely refuse to take out a card that has those type of fees. ( my dad being one of them )

Maybe a tier type of system for the cards should be selected. There is a "blue credit card" and a "red credit card" the blue one is the no annual fee/regular one, while the red one is the one with the fee but extra savings.

Interesting idea. Redcard's biggest benefit over myBB is the instant savings. myBB is still better for new video games (20% off + double points), but for everything else, not so much. How is BB credit card's 5% rewards enticing when even Target Debit Card gives instant 5% savings?

For the credit card, this option already exists - it's 5% back on everyday purchases paid off within 30 days and 10% back on your first purchase if your new to the program.

As far as the debit card goes, that is less likely to happen because Best Buy bounces around to A LOT of banks (i.e. HSBC, Capital One, Citi) which suggests that they don't want to manage that aspect of the business. A debit card program would require more of a hands-on approach from Best Buy's end which I don't think they want.

I also agree with @bd27 though, reward and instant savings are not the same thing. I think most people have just accepted that we are probably never going to see an instant savings program.
