BestBuy.com checkout - Stop prompting current GamersClub members to buy GamersClub

Status: We Did It!

Thanks to Gozinta for this idea over in the forums (link here).

I'm already a Gamers Club Unlocked member, but without fail every time I try to add a game to my cart I get this prompt.

This would be such a simple coding change and it would streamline the process so much.

The code would check If a user is already Gamer Club Unlimited, don't ask them to buy Gamers Club Unlimited.

It would also be nice in the cart view if GCU membership and discount were more prominently displayed.

It looks like this is now fixed. Existing GCU members should no longer get these notifications.

It certainly does give the impression that the membership has lapsed or is not active for some reason.  Others posted that they have accidently purchased it again.

Though I don't think that any coding change to an endeavor as massive as BestBuy.com is ever a simple one, I do agree that there could be more sensitivity to how advertising is presented to GCU members. Who else would like to see this happen? Please remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

I received an update on the scenario you encountered on BestBuy.com: The promotion for GCU you've encountered is a known glitch and is being addressed. Once fixed, as long as you're signed in to your BestBuy.com account, you should not see this occur.

Thank you, appreciate you checking.

Most development teams are on a weekly or even daily release schedule for sites like bestbuy.com, so you might be surprised about how fast a chance can make it through Dev, QA, to Production.  If the team is still on old school development practices (Big bang release, quarterly releases) then I agree, not so much easy to get any site updates in quickly.

I did hear back on this and we are aware of the issue. The appropriate business team is working to resolve this, and once this is resolved I will post back to this idea.

Wow, you guys are great. Thank you for the follow up. I honestly didn't expect to hear anything back since of the last 10 times someone from a large company said that they'll get back to me, I never hear from said company again! So, this is totally unexpected. I do appreciate the attention to detail to make the processes (which we are all stuck in) go smoother!!!

I heard during a call to customer service that a massive system change is going on right now. Hope it goes well!
