I've noticed that there's been a large focus on used games & there's been several @gamer coupons for used games that have resulted in good deals. But the problem for many is that their local stores don't have a large selection of used games which makes the coupons "useless". Also, when there's deals like buy 2 get 1 free on all used games or buy any used game $30 or more get a free Unlocked membership these are also not enticing if there's little to no game to buy. BestBuy is new to the used game market but if your gonna compete with Gamestop in their backyard you gotta provide the same services.
I also just recently upgraded to Unlocked only to see that NO Long Island store has used games...which makes most of my perks useless for buying OR trading in used games for a slight discount/bonus.
POOR implementation of this program if coupons are not usable online to make up for this. We all pay the same and should be entitled to the same perks of those with applicable stores nearby.
"The fact that multiple users are attesting to the limited stock of used games at their local store definitely gives validity to your idea. I don't have any hard numbers on this, but if I was to guess the limited availability could be due to the titles being requested are popular games. The more popular a game is the less they will be traded-in to one of our stores, and the faster they will sell out of those titles. I especially like the idea of these @gamer coupons being able to be used on BestBuy.com, and could honestly see this being a valuable idea. I would like to hear any additional thoughts anyone has on this idea."
From what a BB gaming manager told me, when someone trades a game into a Best Buy store, they don't place it on the pre-owned game shelf but send it somewhere to get them resealed and inspected. After that, its pretty random where the pre-owned games are sent, with probably the majority of the games held for online purchase.
I know gamestop takes there trade ins and immediately puts them on sale, maybe that explains why I never have issue finding a game I'm looking for at gamestop thats pre-owned.
I really need to be able to use coupons online, for both new and used games. I was about to buy four games with the coupons avalable this month, but the store near me only has one of them. Though they are all avalable online, which would make for a lot more profit to you.
Not that CAG is some big secret society or something, Enuf, but could you PLEASE stop using that acronym on here so freely? It's bad enough 90% of CAG users are lurkers who only use the deals they see on there without contributing one bit back to help the community out, so having more of those kind of leeches would be a really bad thing imo.
As for the idea, I support being able to use the coupons online.
Oh and Allan, every BB store I've been in since they started selling pre-owned titles has had quite a few copies of some titles while having only 1-2 of some other unique ones. Case in point: One of my local stores has a stack of 5-10 copies of Metal Gear Solid 4 for the Playstation 3 that have NOT sold even with all of these B2G1 and other discount sales on the used titles.
It just seems that the number of unique titles per store is slim compared to the number of copies of the same titles in LARGE numbers.
htz-out here there are no Best Buys at all with a "pre-owned game shelf". Not within a 3 hour drive, anyway. The manager was right in that the games are sent out for online purposes to be inspected and resealed, though. Where they end up is anyone's guess-online sales mostly, I think. In any event, the stores by me are not merchandised to have pre owned games and therefore, it is not even an option for the stores to resell them.
I agree. Sometimes with work and family you have busy weeks/weekends. About 80% of the items I buy are done online. I haven't had too much trouble finding New games in-store, but I have yet to use a Used-game coupon. The stores around me don't ever have anything I'm looking for.
I strongly agreed with this idea. Between school and work for other people, customers are find it hard to get to each Best Buy to use their coupons and find out the product are out of stock. It's frustrating especially if you made a long trip to a Best Buy.
