Customers can use multiple cards, gift cards, and cash in store when making purchases, but not online. You should allow for people to use a combination of more than one credit card, and or gift cards when paying for items online. This will bring in more sales, especially with how COVID is affecting when people want to make purchases.
The simple reason why to NOT allow multiple credit cards is retailers have to pay a charge for each credit card charge. Two cards now means 2 charges. If you return something it is now 4 charges.
I do think you can use multiple Best Buy Gift Cards.

@bobberuchi It doesn't matter if a multi-card purchase is made online, or in-store. a multicard purchase is a multi-charge purchase. To the best of my knowledge, If the item is returned, the charge is returned. Also, to combat the multicard charge, a multi-payment fee can be charged for purchases under a certain amount to offset the cost, which is minimal to begin with.
You don't seem to understand how credit cards work.
When a retailer accepts a card they get charged 29 cents (variable) plus 2 to 3.5% of the purchase. One for each card.
A BB gift card does not experiece this.
If the person returns an item that 2 to 3.5% cost gets applied again. i.e. 4 to 7 % pure loss of money plus now the extra loss from an open box sale
The charge is NOT returned to the retailer. Authorizations do not cost the company anything. That is why an authrization is done first. If they went straight to charge they would get charged and if it was declined for some reason they would still pay the charge.
