Allow customers to exchange BestBuy Giftcards for MyBB points/cert

In fairness there maybe system issues that prevent this from coming to reality but I`d like to be able to swap a BestBuy giftcard into Mybb pts. I fully understand why BB won`t allow Mybb certs to be converted into a BestBuy giftcard but the reasoning doesn`t apply in the reverse situation. So for example, I`d take my $10 Bestbuy either in-store or via & "load it" then in 24-48 hours or less 500 mybb pts would appear in my mybb account. Because of how MyBB certs affect purchases pre-tax this would give BB a way to fight back vs online vendors who aren`t forcing customers to pay tax.

In the same process being able to "gift" or outright purchase MyBB pts would also present the same advantage.

I guess I'm not entirely sure why someone would want this functionality, but I would like to hear from others on this. Make sure you vote for an idea if you like it.

You cannot do that  because the gift cards when initiallly purchased were able to receive the points.

It would be double dipping.

I really don't get what you mean by taking your $10 card in and loading it

As far as other online vendors not charging tax.  the law is that you only have to charge a tax when shipping to a state where one of your stores is located, or if an online only business where you reside..  Or if your revenue is over a certain $$ per year.

There`s no double dipping a $10 BB giftcard is converted to 500 mybb pts($10) which leaves the $10 used completely. On large purchases the Mybb pts are "worth" far more than BB giftcards. If I want $400 PS4 and I have a $400 BB giftcard and $400 in Mybb certs the certs are the best way to pay. Tax is 6% so on $399.99 that`s $23.99 in tax on top of the $399.99 if paid via BB gc. However, I can get the same PS4 and a $2 soda using Mybb certs and then only need to pay the $2 soda + tax on the soda thus saving $22+. For a customer spending $3500/yr that`s $210 in tax on the $3500(not including the soda add ons) I can do alot with an extra ~$210 @ BB, $120 GCU comes to mind or paying for a BB Amazon prime copycat program.

When you purchase the $10 gift card you get points for it.

When you purchase with points you don't get points.  500 points is still only worth a $10 certificate.

$400 in certificates would be the result of spending thousands of dollars. or buying a lot of items at 10x points.  Which you can do with a BB card.

There`s still no double dip you`re trading a $10 BB giftcard into a 500 MyBB pts($10) so you with $10 credit in one form then it becomes the same $10 in another form. When purchases are made either form no additiional pts are generated anyways.

There`s also more ways to acquire a BB giftcard than buying one and even when buying a BB giftcard that doesn`t ensure pts are earned. Other retailers sell them too. And you certainly don`t need to spend thousands to earn lots of mybb certs or with help of the BB CC. Trade ins help a ton plus they also result in large giftcard amounts.
