As you likely know by now enuf I'm persona non grata at at least my local Gamestop stores because I abused them and their policies as hardcore as they regularly abuse their core customer base. Apparently their managers/district managers do NOT like smart/informed consumers who exploit every loophole in their system to their advantage and to the detriment of their reps.
So getting the manuals/coverarts for games I could buy disc only from Best Buy would be a no go for me. Thankfully at this point the only games I'm looking for are older titles that I may have coverart/manuals for thanks to hoarding all of the cases/artworks/manuals from the closing Hollywood Video stores a number of years ago.
As soon as I get a pre-owned BB game it gets switched from that case to one of the dozens of spares I have since the barcode stickers on their used games make the old EB Games ones come across as easy to remove by comparison.
I mean, seriously, I took a cotton ball with Goo Gone on it and put it directly on one of the BB UPC stickers on pre-owned games. It got off maybe a quarter of it and the rest seemed like the glue became even harder to get off after removing that little bit.
But yeah, BB needs to train all of their reps who could be taking in trades to be able to think for themselves and make decisions on the fly. Not only that but they need to have the reps handling ANY gaming transaction actually know something about gaming. I tried doing a B2G1 on PO titles a while ago to get 3 GOTY editions my local BB stores had in stock. They pulled a non GOTY edition from the shelf and it took me getting a manager involved and informing them that GOTY or not they're both the same SKU in the system. The girl handling my pickup would NOT budge on swapping the non-GOTY for the GOTY version without manager approval.
I agree that the trade-in process has always been a headache, and I have to find a trade really worth my while to take the time to go through the process. So, expediting that process would make trading in much more appealing.
I wonder if you could jump through legal hoops by making the barcoded list a bid/quote/estimate that is finalized in-store.
